Book L analyse du discours

Download or read book L analyse du discours written by Dominique Maingueneau and published by . This book was released on 1991-01-01 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Discourse written by Jean-Paul Metzger and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-06-18 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discourse is not just a means of expressing thought; it is also an autonomous body, an act through which we aim to achieve a certain effect. Modern linguistics proposes a broader definition of discourse, as a discrete and unique enunciative process, where the speaker or author makes language concrete through speech (in the Saussurian sense), and describes the various acts (oral, illocutionary, perlocutionary) that discourse performs. This book examines discourse, an object of analysis and criticism, from a wide range of perspectives. Among the concepts explored are the contributions of rhetoric in the art of discourse, the evolution of multiple approaches and the main methods of discourse analysis conducted by a variety of researchers. The book deepens our knowledge and understanding of discourse, a concept on which any research related to information and communication can be based.

Book The Handbook of Global Interventions in Communication Theory

Download or read book The Handbook of Global Interventions in Communication Theory written by Yoshitaka Miike and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-03-11 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moving beyond the U.S.-Eurocentric paradigm of communication theory, this handbook broadens the intellectual horizons of the discipline by highlighting underrepresented, especially non-Western, theorists and theories, and identifies key issues and challenges for future scholarship. Showcasing diverse perspectives, the handbook facilitates active engagement in different cultural traditions and theoretical orientations that are global in scope but local in effect. It begins by exploring past efforts to diversify the field, continuing on to examine theoretical concepts, models, and principles rooted in local cumulative wisdom. It does not limit itself to the mass-interpersonal communication divide, but rather seeks to frame theory as global and inclusive in scope. The book is intended for communication researchers and advanced students, with relevance to scholars with an interest in theory within information science, library science, social and cross-cultural psychology, multicultural education, social justice and social ethics, international relations, development studies, and political science.

Book Analyse des contenus audiovisuels m talangage et mod les de description

This book was released on 2012-09-05 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Intercultural Explorations

Download or read book Intercultural Explorations written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-11-01 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Divided into four sections: Asian-Western Intersections, Intercultural Memory, Intercultural Perspectives on Women, Genre Studies, and The Intercultural Arts, these essays from diverse hands and multiple perspectives illuminate the intersections, the cross-sections, and the synergies that characterize significant literary texts and artistic productions. Individually, they exemplify the insights available in an intercultural perspective; together they remind us that no culture - even those that claim to be pure or those that might be regarded as isolated - has escaped the influence of external influences. As a result, this volume is doubly synergistic: one, because it focuses on intercultural phenomena within a specific culture, and two, because they represent multiple perspectives on these phenomena.

Book ugustine and Rhetoric

Download or read book ugustine and Rhetoric written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-11-27 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volumes examines the place of classical rhetoric in Augustine's theology. Rather than seeing rhetoric as a matter only of style, the authors examine the argumentative techniques that Augustine would have learned and taught as a professional rhetorician. Essays pay particular attention to the rhetorical practice of invention in order to uncover the ways in which Augustine's thought is not only expressed rhetorically but constructed rhetorically as well. If you want to know what kind of rhetoric Augustine used in the actual practice as a Christian writer and preacher, this volume will answer your question.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Semiotics of International Law

  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media

  • ISBN : 9048190118

Download or read book Semiotics of International Law written by Evandro Menezes de Carvalho and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-10-23 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Language carries more than meanings; language conveys a means of conceiving the world. In this sense, national legal systems expressed through national languages organize the Law based on their own understanding of reality. International Law becomes, in this context, the meeting point where different legal cultures and different views of world intersect. The diversity of languages and legal systems can enrich the possibilities of understanding and developing international law, but it can also represent an instability and unsafety factor to the international scenario. This multilegal-system and multilingual scenario adds to the complexity of international law and poses new challenges. One of them is legal translation, which is a field of knowledge and professional skill that has not been the subject of theoretical thinking on the part of legal scholars. How to negotiate, draft or interpret an international treaty that mirrors what the parties, – who belong to different legal cultures and who, on many occasions, speak different mother tongues – ,want or wanted to say? By analyzing the decision-making process and the legal discourse adopted by the WTO’s Appellate Body, this book highlights the active role of language in diplomatic negotiations and in interpreting international law. In addition, it also shows that the debate on the effectiveness and legitimacy of International Law cannot be separated from the linguistic issue.

Book Systematic Approaches to Argument by Analogy

Download or read book Systematic Approaches to Argument by Analogy written by Henrique Jales Ribeiro and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-09 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume assembles a relevant set of studies of argument by analogy, which address this topic in a systematic fashion, either from an essentially theoretical perspective or from the perspective of it being applied to different fields like politics, linguistics, literature, law, medicine, science in general and philosophy. All result from original research conducted by their authors for this publication. Thus, broadly speaking, this is an exception which we find worthy of occupying a special place in the sphere of the bibliography on the argument by analogy. In effect, most of the contexts of the publications on this topic focus on specific areas, for example everyday discourse, science or law theory, while underestimating or sometimes even ignoring other interdisciplinary scopes, as is the case of literature, medicine or philosophy. The idiosyncrasy of this volume is that the reader and the researcher may follow the development of different theoretical outlooks on argument by analogy, while measuring the scope of its (greater or lesser) application to the aforementioned areas as a whole.

Book Rhapsodie

Download or read book Rhapsodie written by Anne Lacheret-Dujour and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2019-06-06 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph describes the development of Rhapsodie, a 33,000-word syntactic and prosodic treebank of spoken French created with the aim of modeling the interface between prosody, syntax and discourse in spoken French. Theoretical foundations and methodological choices are presented and discussed, and compared with other contemporary approaches. Why is a data-driven instead of a corpus-based approach necessary when one wants to model and analyze discourse without neglecting the features typical of everyday speech, in order to capture not only what we say but also how we say it? How can one show that verbal exchange operates as a collaborative enterprise and how can the specific syntactic and prosodic markers of this collaboration be merged? The description proposed in this collective book is of interest for specialists of spoken French studies, and also for scholars who would like to extend Rhapsodie-like annotation schemes to other languages.
