L’objectif de notre étude était d’évaluer la prévalence de ce trouble dans une population d’enfants suivis dans un cabinet de médecine générale dans la banlieue parisienne. A partir des données recueillies par le Dr Salomé Demolère dans sa thèse portant sur les difficultés d’endormissement, nous avons étudié le sommeil d’une file active de 240 enfants de 6 à 40mois. Des réveils nocturnes ont été retrouvées chez 49,8% des enfants. Les réveils nocturnes augmentaient avec l’heure de coucher tardive, l’endormissement avec une tierce personne, l’allaitement. Ils diminuaient chez les parents d’origine métropolitaine et chez les enfants s’endormant rapidement. 43 enfants présentaient difficultés d’endormissement et réveils nocturnes. Ces enfants étaient plus âgés, se couchaient plus tard, s’endormissaient moins dans leur lit et moins seuls. 1 enfant sur 3 se réveillant la nuit présentait des difficultés à s’endormir. 2 enfants sur 3 présentant des difficultés à s’endormir se réveillaient la nuit.
