Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. First published in 1970s, The Ministry of Culture and Communication's Cultural Participation survey has been the main barometer of French behaviour in the area of media and culture. Over a decade on from the 1997 results, those published in 2008 shows the impact of ten years of change wrought by the booming digital and internetbased culture : the increasing power of screen culture, the declining popularity of television and radio among the younger generations, declining daily newspaper and book readership and developments in content production.

Download or read book Les pratiques culturelles des Fran ais l re num rique written by Olivier Donnat and published by Editions La Découverte. This book was released on 2009 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Les Pratiques culturelles des Fran ais written by Olivier Donnat and published by La Découverte : La Documentation française. This book was released on 1990 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Engagement in 21st Century French and Francophone Culture

Download or read book Engagement in 21st Century French and Francophone Culture written by Helena Chadderton and published by University of Wales Press. This book was released on 2017-11-08 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the face of the contested legacy of engagement in the Francophone context, this interdisciplinary collection demonstrates that French and Francophone writers, artists, intellectuals and film-makers are using their work to confront unforeseen and unprecedented challenges, campaigns and causes in a politically uncertain post-9/11 world. Composed of eleven essays and a contextualising introduction, this volume is interdisciplinary in its treatment of engagement in a variety of forms, as it reassesses the relationship between different types of cultural production and society as it is played out in the twenty-first century. With a focus on both the development of different cultural forms (Part 1) and on the particular crises that have attracted the attention of cultural practitioners (Part 2), this volume maps and analyses some of the ways in which cultural texts of all kinds are being used to respond to, engage with and challenge crises in the contemporary Francophone world.

Book Aesthetico Cultural Cosmopolitanism and French Youth

Download or read book Aesthetico Cultural Cosmopolitanism and French Youth written by Vincenzo Cicchelli and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-01-28 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By examining cultural consumption, tastes and imaginaries as a means of relating to the world, this book describes the effects of globalization on young people from an aesthetic and cultural perspective. It employs the concept of aesthetico-cultural cosmopolitanism to analyse the emergence of an aesthetic openness to alterity as a new generational "good taste". Aesthetico-Cultural Cosmopolitanism and French Youth critically examines the consumption of cultural products and imaginaries that provide genuine insight into social change, particularly in regards to young people, who play the largest role in cultural circulation. This book will be of interest to students and academics across a wide range of readers, including cultural theorists, and students engaged in debates on cultural consumption, the globalization of culture and transnational aesthetic codes.

Book Imagining the popular in contemporary French culture

Download or read book Imagining the popular in contemporary French culture written by Diana Holmes and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This groundbreaking book is about what ‘popular culture’ means in France, and how the term’s shifting meanings have been negotiated and contested. It represents the first theoretically informed study of the way that popular culture is lived, imagined, fought over and negotiated in modern and contemporary France. It covers a wide range of overarching concerns: the roles of state policy, the market, political ideologies, changing social contexts and new technologies in the construction of the popular. But it also provides a set of specific case studies showing how popular songs, stories, films, TV programmes and language styles have become indispensable elements of ‘culture’ in France. Deploying yet also rethinking a ‘Cultural Studies’ approach to the popular, the book therefore challenges dominant views of what French culture really means today.

Book Routledge International Handbook of the Sociology of Art and Culture

Download or read book Routledge International Handbook of the Sociology of Art and Culture written by Laurie Hanquinet and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-09-16 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of the Sociology of Arts and Culture offers a comprehensive overview of sociology of art and culture, focusing especially – though not exclusively – on the visual arts, literature, music, and digital culture. Extending, and critiquing, Bourdieu’s influential analysis of cultural capital, the distinguished international contributors explore the extent to which cultural omnivorousness has eclipsed highbrow culture, the role of age, gender and class on cultural practices, the character of aesthetic preferences, the contemporary significance of screen culture, and the restructuring of popular culture. The Handbook critiques modes of sociological determinism in which cultural engagement is seen as the simple product of the educated middle classes. The contributions explore the critique of Eurocentrism and the global and cosmopolitan dimensions of cultural life. The book focuses particularly on bringing cutting edge ‘relational’ research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative, to bear on these debates. This handbook not only describes the field, but also proposes an agenda for its development which will command major international interest.

Book Cultural Training and Educational Spaces

Download or read book Cultural Training and Educational Spaces written by Theodora Balmon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2023-12-04 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For two centuries, the school system has been a central point around which other players have gravitated: local authorities, voluntary organizations and the world of work. Over the course of the 20th century, this school centric configuration underwent a transformation, with local authorities tending to become integrated into the vertical culture of the school system. This was only the beginning of a process that brought schools and socio cultural players into constant contact. Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces first examines the relationships with knowledge generated by the links between the school system and other cultural, training and educational spaces, taking a historical, pedagogical and philosophical perspective. Easy access to learning materials creates different relationships with knowledge than those observed in schools. The book then looks at the pedagogical practices in these different cultural educational spaces, such as libraries and media libraries, museums and historical sites, places of heritage, history and entertainment, social networks and other multimedia formats.
