Book excerpt: Notre recherche sur la qualité de l'enseignement universitaire se situe dans le débat qui entoure le processus de Bologne. Nous examinons, dans une perspective comparatiste, l'assurance qualité et son accréditation, la culture de la qualité et le débat en termes de qualité sur l'enseignement donné à l'université en Suisse et en Roumanie. Trois caractéristiques principales de la qualité et de sa garantie sont mises en évidence: le caractère provisoire, la pluralité et la différenciation. Ensuite, cette thèse met en évidence deux types d'effets des instruments de la qualité: des effets propres, résultant des caractéristiques intrinsèques de chaque instrument, et des effets politiques. Nous analysons enfin trois conditions pour que les instruments de la qualité soient acceptés dans l'espace européen de l'enseignement supérieur: le développement des connaissances et de la capacité d'agir, et de la volonté de changer. Cette étude devrait permettre aux décideurs et aux responsables politiques et institutionnels, aux enseignants, aux chercheurs, et plus généralement à tous ceux qui s'intéressent aux changement complexes initiés par le processus européen de Bologne, de mieux comprendre les enjeux et les attentes liés aux transformations actuelles.
