Book excerpt: Après avoir rappelé la description de l'oreille interne, expliqué les définitions des barotraumatismes (BT) et des accidents de désaturation (ADD), l'auteur met en évidence un lien entre la présence de symptômes vestibulaires et le diagnostic d'ADD et de BT pour des symptômes cochléaires. À l'aide d'une étude rétrospective entre 2004 et 2014, l'auteur a comparé les données de 138 patients, répartis selon le diagnostic retrouvé. L'étude s'est portée sur les caractéristiques de la population, celles de la plongée, symptômes manifestés, examens complémentaires initiaux, finaux et traitements. L'auteur compare ses résultats avec ceux de la littérature. Il retrouve une latéralité droite prédominante dans l'atteinte vestibulaire lors d'ADD en rapport avec la présence d'un foramen ovale perméable fréquemment retrouvé lors d'ADD. Il conclut en discutant la place d'autres examens complémentaires dans le diagnostic de ces accidents et sur l'urgence quant au traitement de l'ADD.
