Book Lepton flavor Mixing and K Pi Nu Nubar Decays

Download or read book Lepton flavor Mixing and K Pi Nu Nubar Decays written by Y. Grossman and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impact of possible sources of lepton-flavor mixing on K {yields} {pi}{nu}{bar {nu}} decays is analyzed. At the one-loop level lepton-flavor mixing originated from non-diagonal lepton mass matrices cannot generate a CP-conserving K{sub L} {yields} {pi}{sup 0}{nu}{bar {nu}} amplitude. The rates of these modes are sensitive to leptonic flavor violation when there are at least two different leptonic mixing matrices. New interactions that violate both quark and lepton universalities could enhance the CP-conserving component of {Lambda} (K{sub L} {yields} {pi}{sup 0}{nu}{bar {nu}}) and have a substantial impact. Explicit examples of these effects in the context of supersymmetric models, with and without R-parity conservation, are discussed.

Download or read book Lepton flavor Mixing and K Pi Nu Nu Bar Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impact of possible sources of lepton-flavor mixing on K → [pi][nu]{bar [nu]} decays is analyzed. At the one-loop level lepton-flavor mixing originated from non-diagonal lepton mass matrices cannot generate a CP-conserving K{sub L} → [pi]°[nu]{bar {nu}} amplitude. The rates of these modes are sensitive to leptonic flavor violation when there are at least two different leptonic mixing matrices. New interactions that violate both quark and lepton universalities could enhance the CP-conserving component of [Lambda](K{sub L} → [pi]°{nu}{bar {nu}}) and have a substantial impact. Explicit examples of these effects in the context of supersymmetric models, with and without R-parity conservation, are discussed.

Book The K sub L yields pi sup 0 nu anti nu Decay Beyond the Standard Model

Download or read book The K sub L yields pi sup 0 nu anti nu Decay Beyond the Standard Model written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The K[sub L][yields][pi][sup 0][nu][anti[nu]] decay is analyzed in a model independent way. When lepton flavor is conserved, this decay mode is a manifestation of CP violating interference between mixing and decay. Consequently, a theoretically clean relation between the measured rate and electroweak parameters holds in any given model.

Download or read book Search for the Decay K Pi Mu e written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for the lepton-flavor violating decay K.--> pi.mu.+e− has been performed. Measurements have also been made of the branching ratio and decay particle distributions for the decay K+.--> pi.+e−. A description of the measurement technique, and preliminary results are presented. 6 refs., 5 figs.

Book Flavor Mixing and Charm Decay

Download or read book Flavor Mixing and Charm Decay written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of mixing matrix determination and their implications on heavy quark decays are given. The decays of charm mesons D°, D, F into two pseudoscalar mesons are discussed in the framework of SU(3) symmetry. The charm decays are also discussed in terms of quark diagrams. It is demonstrated that the differences observed in the lifetimes of D° and D+, and in the branching ratios B(D° .-->. K−K+) and B(D° .-->. .pi.−.pi.+) can be easily incorporated. 3 figures.

Download or read book Search for Lepton Flavor Violating Decays tau pm to ell pm pi 0 ell pm eta ell pm eta prime written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for lepton flavor violating decays of the [tau] lepton to a lighter mass lepton and a pseudoscalar meson has been performed using 339 fb−1 of ee− annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58GeV by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II storage ring. No evidence of signal has been found, and upper limits on the branching fractions are set at 10−7 level.

Book excerpt: We present the most recent searches for lepton-flavor-violating (LFV)? decays in BABAR. We find no evidence of? decaying to three charged leptons or to a charged lepton and a neutral meson (K{sub S}°,?,?, K*°, {bar K}*°), and set upper limits on the corresponding branching fractions (BF) between 1.8 and 19 x 10−8 at 90% confidence level (CL).

Book String Theory and the Real World

Download or read book String Theory and the Real World written by Gordon Kane and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2017-03-27 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to explain why 'string theory' may provide the comprehensive underlying theory that describes and explains our world. It is an enthusiastic view of how compactified string/M-theories (plus data that may be reachable) seem to have the possibilities of leading to a comprehensive underlying theory of particle physics and cosmology, perhaps soon. We are living in a hugely exciting era for science, one during which it may be possible to achieve a real and true understanding of our physical world.

Book The Mathematical Foundations of the Finite Element Method with Applications to Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book The Mathematical Foundations of the Finite Element Method with Applications to Partial Differential Equations written by A. K. Aziz and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 814 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mathematical Foundations of the Finite Element Method with Applications to Partial Differential Equations is a collection of papers presented at the 1972 Symposium by the same title, held at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Campus. This symposium relates considerable numerical analysis involved in research in both theoretical and practical aspects of the finite element method. This text is organized into three parts encompassing 34 chapters. Part I focuses on the mathematical foundations of the finite element method, including papers on theory of approximation, variational principles, the problems of perturbations, and the eigenvalue problem. Part II covers a large number of important results of both a theoretical and a practical nature. This part discusses the piecewise analytic interpolation and approximation of triangulated polygons; the Patch test for convergence of finite elements; solutions for Dirichlet problems; variational crimes in the field; and superconvergence result for the approximate solution of the heat equation by a collocation method. Part III explores the many practical aspects of finite element method. This book will be of great value to mathematicians, engineers, and physicists.
