Book excerpt: Esta dissertação aborda o conflito de leis em matéria contratual, tanto no Direito Internacional Privado brasileiro, como na Convenção Interamericana sobre Direito Aplicável aos Contratos Internacionais - Convenção do México. Inicialmente, o texto apresenta uma exposição sobre o método conflitual, como etapa necessária à análise seguinte, acerca dos critérios adotados pela legislação brasileira para designar a lei aplicável aos aspectos de forma e fundo das relações contratuais internacionais. Na seqüência, formadas as bases do regime brasileiro de conflito de leis em matéria contratual, analisa-se a Convenção do México, a qual cria outro modelo para designação da lei aplicável aos contratos internacionais. Por fim, faz-se um paralelo entre os dois regimes analisados, com a finalidade de verificar se o DIPr brasileiro é compatível com a Convenção do México. Assim, são constatadas convergências e divergências, e apresentam-se possibilidades de superar as divergências.
