Book Glimpses of Lehi s Jerusalem

Download or read book Glimpses of Lehi s Jerusalem written by John Woodland Welch and published by Maxwell Institute. This book was released on 2004 with total page 698 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Imagine Jerusalem around 600 BC, the world of Lehi, Sariah, Laban, Zoram, Josiah, and Jeremiah. How did people live? What motivated them? And what eventually destroyed their city? The answers to such questions foster better understanding of the prophetic words of Lehi, Nephi, and Jacob in the Book of Mormon. Much of that era was lost forever when Jerusalem met its prophesied fate and was destroyed by the Babylonians. The Temple of Solomon and the city walls were torn down, buildings burned, treasuries looted, people killed or deported, records lost or destroyed, and certain religious beliefs changed or extinguished. Glimpses of Lehi's Jerusalem offers modern readers a vivid look at revealing events in a crucial quarter century in world history.

Book Who Are the Children of Lehi

Download or read book Who Are the Children of Lehi written by D. Jeffrey Meldrum and published by Greg Kofford Books. This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does the Book of Mormon, keystone of the LDS faith, stand up to data about DNA sequencing that puts the ancestors of modern Native Americans in northeast Asia instead of Palestine? In Who Are the Children of Lehi? Meldrum and Stephens examine the merits and the fallacies of DNA-based interpretations that challenge the Book of Mormon’s historicity. They provide clear guides to the science, summarize the studies, illuminate technical points with easy-to-grasp examples, and spell out the data’s implications. The results? There is no straight-line conclusion between DNA evidence and “Lamanites.” The Book of Mormon’s validity lies beyond the purview of scientific empiricism—as it always has. And finally, inspiringly, they affirm Lehi’s kinship as one of covenant, not genes.

Download or read book THE LEHI CHRONICLES written by Richard L. Tenney and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of a handful of boys in 650BC Israel who encounter life's challenges head on. Good friends, family, faith in God and trust that total strangers can be relied upon even when there seems to be no other choice. Perhaps family life 2650 years ago was not as different as we hope to see them today. Husbands are commanded to love their wives, sons adore their fathers, and daughters display the Godlike feminine qualities of their mothers. But regardless of the times we live in, life is full of hardship and danger. How we react to that danger tells the lord and mankind who we really are. "Jacob listened for an hour or more, putting together the story as they talked on and off about why they were here and who had sent them. Finally he decided that is was futile to try to save anyone: evidently there was no one left to save. As far as he knew he was the sole survivor of the once proud little village of Hamadi. It was hard for him to control his emotions as he sat in his hiding place and listen to the soldier's talk of the atrocities they had performed upon his people, but then his thoughts turned to Lehi and Ishmael."

Book An Abridgment of the Record of Lehi

Download or read book An Abridgment of the Record of Lehi written by William C. Chappell and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2002-01-22 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part I of this book gives an abridgment of the record of the prophet Lehi, which was the first book engraved upon the gold plates of the Book of Mormon. The original Book of Lehi, which was translated by Joseph Smith in 1828, was stolen and became lost from the Book of Mormon. Since that time they have simply been referred to as the lost 116 manuscript pages. This plain abridgment of the record of Lehi answers several questions about the origin of the Book of Mormon. For instance, it explains the connection with Egypt, revealing that Lehi was a Jew, or rather an Israelite, from the land of Egypt. It reveals that Labans plates of brass were actually Lehis plates of brass that were made by his people in the land of Egypt. As well, it reveals that the land of their inheritance is simply their house and farm, which was near Hebron in the land of Judea. Since this is from the personal account of the record of Lehi, he describes the nature and function of the Liahona, the making and composition of the metal plates, and their building the ship of Nephi at Bountiful. Lehi further explains something about the characters of their language which were inscribed upon the metal plates. The characters had been developed by his forefathers who were Israelites living in the land of Egypt, which were unique to them, and they cannot be proved to the world. Part II of this book describes a simple and realistic model for the unknown geography of the Book of Mormon. After all these years the actual geographic setting for the locations found in the Book of Mormon has not been understood. If the account in the book is true, then there is a real geography to be found, as well. The author believes that he has discovered a simple and realistic answer to the question of the Book of Mormon geography. The author has a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and believes that those were real lands, and cities, and events that were so faithfully recorded therein. He wishes to make those places and events more realistic to people when they read and study the Book of Mormon.

Book The Lost 116 Pages Reconstructing the Book of Mormon s Missing Stories

Download or read book The Lost 116 Pages Reconstructing the Book of Mormon s Missing Stories written by Don Bradley and published by Greg Kofford Books, Incorporated. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On a summer day in 1828, Book of Mormon scribe and witness Martin Harris was emptying drawers, upending furniture, and ripping apart mattresses as he desperately looked for a stack of papers he had sworn to God to protect. Those pages containing the only copy of the first three months of the Joseph Smith's translation of the golden plates were forever lost, and the detailed stories they held forgotten over the ensuing years--until now. In this highly anticipated work, author Don Bradley presents over a decade of historical and scriptural research to not only tell the story of the lost pages but to reconstruct many of the detailed stories written on them. Questions explored and answered include: Was the lost manuscript actually 116 pages? How did Mormon's abridgment of this period differ from the accounts in Nephi's small plates? Where did the brass plates and Laban's sword come from? How did Lehi's family and their descendants live the Law of Moses without the temple and Aaronic priesthood? How did the Liahona operate? Why is Joseph of Egypt emphasized so much in the Book of Mormon? How were the first Nephites similar to the very last? What message did God write on the temple wall for Aminadi to translate? How did the Jaredite interpreters come into the hands of the Nephite kings? Why was King Benjamin so beloved by his people? Despite the likely demise of those pages to the sands of time, the answers to these questions and many more are now available for the first time in nearly two centuries in The Lost 116 Pages: Reconstructing the Book of Mormon's Missing Stories.

Book Lehi s Dream and the Great Plan of Happiness

Download or read book Lehi s Dream and the Great Plan of Happiness written by Byron John Pixton and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-05-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A prophet named Lehi was told by God to flea Jerusalem with his family about 600 B.C. While traveling in the wilderness, he was given this marvelous dream by the Holy Spirit. This dream was filled with many spiritual symbolisms, including the Tree of Life. After sharing this dream with his family, his son Nephi, was also shown the dream and given the interpretation of it, along with visions about the coming life of Christ and the future of Lehi's family. The description of the dreams is found in The Book of Mormon, a history and scriptural record of Lehi's family and others that settled in the Americas, including an account of Jesus Christ's appearance after his resurrection. The record of Lehi's dream is found in 1 Nephi starting in chapter 8. I felt inspired to write this book after studying the layout of Lehi's Dream in preparation for a painting I wished to do of the scene. That painting is now on the cover. As I studied the people that Lehi describes moving through the dream, I found many parallels with the plan of salvation. The dream is rich with spiritual insights into God's wonderful plan for the salvation of mankind. This book is a study of those insights with parallels from the scriptures and what we can learn from them, such as; What is the significance of the wilderness that Lehi passed through, and what can it reveal about the purpose of life and our own means of escaping those lone and dreary times in our own lives? What can we learn from the Rod of Iron and how to find the truth of all things? What are the mists of darkness and how do they affect us? How may we escape the fiery darts of the adversary? What is the meaning of the gorge, the fountain and the river, and those who are drowned in the filthy waters? What about the large and spacious building and those inside? What are they shouting and why must it fall? What of the fruit of the tree of life and what does it mean? Where can we go to find this fruit in our lives? And what of the many broad roads and strange paths that Lehi saw and where do they lead? What can the many people described moving through the dream tell us about the plan of salvation and about ourselves? What did Nephi's vision reveal to us about the life of Jesus Christ our Savior, and the fate of the church he formed? What does the dream reveal about the path to happiness and the thing most joyous to the soul? This second edition includes a similar dream of the Tree of Life that Joseph Smith Sr. had, as well as a more in-depth look into God's marvelous plan for each of us.

Download or read book The Book of Lehi written by Travis Wayne Goodsell and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-07-16 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We do not have the Book of Lehi. The loss of the 116 pages will one day be restored. The portion of the Book of Nephi that concerned Lehi is taken out and edited in the first person. It is hoped that the members of The LDS Church will come out of condemnation and magnify their study of the Book of Mormon. This version reveals certain facts contrary to the traditional understanding; such as that Nephi was born by the Red Sea after Lehi left Jerusalem and that the timing of their journeys is different. Lehi doesn't seem to be one for explaining the dealings of God. He simply tells of his prophesies and revelations. This book is of value for an understanding of the principle of faith and his Tree of Life vision and his blessings to his sons.
