Book Inorganic Plant Nutrition

Download or read book Inorganic Plant Nutrition written by A. Läuchli and published by Springer. This book was released on 1983-10-01 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book bearing the title of this volume, Inorganic Plant Nutrition, was written by D. R. HOAGLAND of the University of California at Berkeley. As indicated by its extended title, Lectures on the Inorganic Nutrition of Plants, it is a collection of lectures - the JOHN M. PRATHER lectures, which he was invited in 1942 to give. at Harvard University and presented there between April 10 and 23 of that year - 41 years before the publication of the present volume. They were not "originally intended for publication" but fortunately HOAGLAND was persuaded to publish them; the book appeared in 1944. It might at first blush seem inappropriate to draw comparisons between a book embodying a set of lectures by a single author and an encyclopedic volume with no less than 37 contributors. But HOAGLAND'S book was a compre hensive account of the state of this science in his time, as the present volume is for ours. It was then still possible for one person, at least for a person of HOAGLAND'S intellectual breadth and catholicity of interests, to encompass many major areas of the entire field, from the soil substrate to the metabolic roles of nitrogen, potassium, and other nutrients, and from basic scientific topics to the application of plant nutritional research in solving problems encountered in the field.

Book Anat Physiology of Diseased Plants

Download or read book Anat Physiology of Diseased Plants written by Dragoljub D. Sutic and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book utilizes a unique approach to plant pathology by combining the results from studies on the anatomy and physiology of diseased plants to show the mutual links among pathological changes in plants, particularly the effect of changes in cells and tissues. These changes in turn affect the structure and function of the diseased plant and are considered a pathosystem in plant cells, tissues, and organs. Information in the book is categorized by cytopathological and histopathological changes; organopathological and morphological changes are included within these larger categories. Symptoms related to changes in diseased plant cells, tissues, and organs are discussed, as well as symptoms related to the physiology of diseased cells. This book makes an ideal reference source for students in agriculture, botany, forestry, plant anatomy, plant physiology, and related fields. Plant pathologists, agricultural consultants, agriculturalists, agronomists, horticulturalists, and landscape designers will also find plenty of important information in this one-of-a-kind book.

Download or read book Plant Physiology written by Philip Stewart and published by Apple Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-03-31 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title includes a number of Open Access chapters. The field of plant physiology includes the study of all chemical and physical processes of plants, from the molecular-level interactions of photosynthesis and the diffusion of water, minerals, and nutrients within the plant, to the larger-scale processes of plant growth, dormancy and reproduction. This new book covers a broad array of topics within the field. Plant Physiology focuses on the study of the internal activities of plants, including research into the molecular interactions of photosynthesis and the internal diffusion of water, minerals, and nutrients. Also included are investigations into the processes of plant development, seasonality, dormancy, and reproductive control. The chapters focus on various aspects of plant physiology, including phytochemistry; interactions within a plant between cells, issues, and organs; ways in which plants regulate their internal functions; and how plants respond to conditions and variations within the environment. Given the environmental crises brought about by pollution and climate change, this is a particularly vital area of study, since stress from water loss, changes in air chemistry, or crowding by other plants can lead to changes in the way a plant function. Readers of this book will gain the information they need to stay current with the latest research being done in this essential field of study.
