Download or read book PCT Spin and Statistics and All That written by Raymond F. Streater and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2016-08-11 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PCT, Spin and Statistics, and All That is the classic summary of and introduction to the achievements of Axiomatic Quantum Field Theory. This theory gives precise mathematical responses to questions like: What is a quantized field? What are the physically indispensable attributes of a quantized field? Furthermore, Axiomatic Field Theory shows that a number of physically important predictions of quantum field theory are mathematical consequences of the axioms. Here Raymond Streater and Arthur Wightman treat only results that can be rigorously proved, and these are presented in an elegant style that makes them available to a broad range of physics and theoretical mathematics.

Download or read book Time Reversal Symmetry written by Ion I. Geru and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-31 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces new developments in the field of Time-Reversal Symmetry presenting, for the first time, the Wigner time-reversal operator in the form of a product of two- or three time-reversal operators of lower symmetry. The action of these operators leads to the sign change of only one or two angular momentum components, not of all of them. It demonstrates that there are six modes of time-reversal symmetry breaking that do not lead to the complete disappearance of the symmetry but to its lowering. The full restoration of the time-reversal symmetry in the six cases mentioned is possible by introducing six types of metaparticles. The book also confirms the presence of six additional time-reversal operators using a group-theoretical method. The problem is only where to seek these metaparticles. The book discusses time-reversal symmetry in classical mechanics, classical and relativistic electrodynamics, quantum mechanics and theory of quantized fields, including dynamical reversibility and statistical irreversibility of the time, Wigner’s and Herring’s criteria, Kramers theorem, selection rules due to time-reversal symmetry, Onsager’s relations, Poincaré recurrence theorem, and CPT theorem. It particularly focuses attention on time-reversal symmetry violation. It is proposed a new method of testing the time-reversal symmetry, which is confirmed experimentally by EPR spectroscopy data. It shows that the traditional black-white point groups of magnetic symmetry are not applicable to magnetic systems with Kramers degeneration of energy levels and that magnetic groups of four-color symmetry are adequate for them. Further, it addresses the predicted structural distortions in Kramers three-homonuclear magnetic clusters due to time-reversal symmetry that have been identified experimentally. Lastly, it proposes a method of synthesis of two-nuclear coordination compounds with predictable magnetic properties, based on the application of the time-reversal transformation that was confirmed experimentally.
Download or read book Infinite Dimensional Harmonic Analysis Iii Proceedings Of The Third German japanese Symposium written by Kimiaki Saito and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005-11-09 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains contributions on recent results in infinite dimensional harmonic analysis and its applications to probability theory. Some papers deal with purely analytic topics such as Frobenius reciprocity, diffeomorphism groups, equivariant fibrations and Harish-Chandra modules. Several other papers touch upon stochastic processes, in particular Lévy processes. The majority of the contributions emphasize on the algebraic-topological aspects of the theory by choosing configuration spaces, locally compact groups and hypergroups as their basic structures. The volume provides a useful survey of innovative work pertaining to a highly actual section of modern analysis in its pure and applied shapings.
Download or read book Nonlinear Systems of Partial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics written by Basil Nicolaenko and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1986-12-31 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These two volumes of 47 papers focus on the increased interplay of theoretical advances in nonlinear hyperbolic systems, completely integrable systems, and evolutionary systems of nonlinear partial differential equations. The papers both survey recent results and indicate future research trends in these vital and rapidly developing branches of PDEs. The editor has grouped the papers loosely into the following five sections: integrable systems, hyperbolic systems, variational problems, evolutionary systems, and dispersive systems. However, the variety of the subjects discussed as well as their many interwoven trends demonstrate that it is through interactive advances that such rapid progress has occurred. These papers require a good background in partial differential equations. Many of the contributors are mathematical physicists, and the papers are addressed to mathematical physicists (particularly in perturbed integrable systems), as well as to PDE specialists and applied mathematicians in general.
