Download or read book Learn How to Draw Caricatures For the Absolute Beginner written by John Davidson and published by JD-Biz Corp Publishing. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To draw a caricature is to simply draw an image that is very distinguishable to your model/subject’s identity with or without being photographically identical. In early forms of this genre, the type of figures used was animals to represent a certain person. A painting or any type of artwork cannot be called a caricature if the piece does not involve an actual person, because involving a real person as a model is the critical part of this genre. TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction Quick ink sketches • Caricature of a Child • Head in Profile Establishing Tones/Shade Values Drawing a Face in a Proper Proportion Drawing Caricatures with a Pencil • Using Simple Reference Lines • Starting with a Facial Feature Exaggerating Proportions Caricature of a Girl - Amplifying facial expression Caricature Samples So start taking pictures of your friends or ask for a willing volunteer to be your model and begin drawing caricatures. Book How to Draw Crazy Cars Mad Monsters Like a Pro

Download or read book How to Draw Crazy Cars Mad Monsters Like a Pro written by Ed Newton, Thom Taylor and published by . This book was released on with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chopped, slammed, channeled, blown . . . in the late '50s and early '60s all of these features lent themselves nicely to the rise of hot rod art that caricaturized the already severe design traits associated with these cars. Usually, the rods and customs in this art were piloted by slobbering, snaggle-toothed "monsters" with bulging, bloodshot eyes. Thanks to the iron-on T-shirt boom of the '70s and a raft of younger artists working today, hot rod monsters have persevered. Now award-winning car-designer Thom Taylor and legendary kustom culture figure Ed Newton reveal the tricks and techniques used by masters past and present to render these whack rods and their warts-and-all drivers. Beginning with a brief history of the form, the authors examine figures like Stanley Mouse, Ed Roth, and Newton himself, then reveal how those pioneers influenced modern artists like Keith Weesner, John Bell, and Dave Deal, to name a few. In addition to offering chapters covering topics like equipment, perspective, light sources, and other technical considerations, Taylor expands on the cartooning, proportion, and color chapters from his previous works, applying them to the subject at hand. Also includes dozens of examples of the form from many of the above-mentioned artists and more.

Book Learn How to Draw Human Figures For the Absolute Beginner

Download or read book Learn How to Draw Human Figures For the Absolute Beginner written by John Davidson and published by JD-Biz Corp Publishing. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn How to Draw Human Figures - For the Absolute Beginner Table of Contents Introduction: Drawing Tools Body Proportions -Body Shape -Polygonal Form -Ball Joints Arms Legs Muscle Structure Heads Clothing Proportioning the body structure properly is important when drawing a person. A disproportionate body will mislead the portrayed perspective of your subject. Or worse, the subject might look distorted and deformed. Knowing the proper length for your subject (the person or character you are drawing) can be easily achieved by drawing the head first. In this way, the traditional method in laying out the proper proportion of the body can be initiated. The traditional method of approximating the body proportion of a subject is by using its head’s size. The height of an average man is approximately eight to ten head’s size tall, while a women’s height is about seven to nine head’s size. If your subject/character is eight heads tall then the proportions should be as follows: • The distance of the head/face to crotch is about four heads long. • The arms including the hands from the shoulders are closely four heads long. • An average opened hand is usually equal to or almost one head size. While the length of a small hand can be compared to the length of the eyebrows to chin. • The wrists are aligned or right above the level of crotch. • The lower extremities/legs are about four heads long. Adjustments are most effective by decreasing or increasing the length of each part by half head-size depending on your preferred height. The wideness of the chest is usually two horizontal head’s size or more (two and half) depending on the body built you prefer for your subject. A subject having less than two head’s size will make its actual head look too big or a body proportion too skinny. Take note that these proportions are just an approximation of an average person’s body structure. The measurements can change depending on the body type you prefer to portray, such as a long-legged subject would obviously have legs longer than four heads, or perhaps a shorter upper body to give his or her lower extremities more length. Adjustments are done according to the certain body characteristic of your subject based on his/ her function or purpose. The body proportion should also match the age of your subject. A person that is eight-heads tall effectively portrays an average adult, but it is most unlikely the case when portraying a pre-teen. Considering that the subject will have a smaller head which will be used to approximate his/her height, the number of heads used to convey how tall he/she is must be decreased as well. Considering that an average man is eight heads tall… • A young adult can be seven to seven and half heads tall • A teenager can be six to seven heads tall. • A young child can be five to six and half head tall. • A toddler can be four to five heads tall. Notice how the head measurements adjust according to their age. An individual’s growth gradually decreases as he/she reaches adulthood. But certain measurements and alignments are still implied no matter how old the subject is, such as the comparative length (per head’s size) of arms and legs and the same level of wrists to the crotch.

Book Learn How to Draw Land Animals For the Absolute Beginner

Download or read book Learn How to Draw Land Animals For the Absolute Beginner written by John Davidson and published by JD-Biz Corp Publishing. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn How to Draw Land Animals For the Absolute Beginner TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction: Drawing tools Sketching Animals The contour shape The planes Details Furs Raccoon Lion Bison Texture Armadillo Elephant Prints Tiger Shading Linear shading Imaginary light source Tapir Smeared shading Hippopotamus Rhinoceros Gaur Sketching Animals - The contour shape To properly construct the figure of any subject you want to illustrate, observe the structure of its form and find what kind of shape that can resemble its body structure. The idea is to have a basis for portraying the mass of the figure. The basic shapes can be easily positioned upon your desired perspective or point of view. • Obtain the most basic form of the animal you are going to draw. • Use the basic form as a reference for constructing the main outline. The main outline is the most important element for the subject to be distinguishable. Remember that the basic figure (basic shapes) is mainly a basis for its mass in the simplest form, this is just a way for you to see the subject as a multidimensional figure, and any change in position will gradually change the manner of how the figure should be outlined. The primary outline may overlap, replace, or replicate the basic figure. If the portions of your animal are smoothly spherical (circles used to simplify the form), then the primary outline would simply overlap or replicate the simplified form, but if the part has ridges such as the face of the animal (nose, eyeholes, cheeks etc...) then the basic form should be modified to illustrate the exact shape of the head. • The basic forms will be your guide to properly lay out each linear shade. Observe the first sphere. The linear shades do not bend properly with the contour shape but it can show the dimensions by leaving the center of the sphere unmarked. These are hatches that use the point of light as a reference. The linear shades on the second sphere bend with the contour shape of the figure. The lines show the proportions by interpreting the form by flowing with it. These hatches use the point of light and the manner of its bend to show dimensions. If you are going to use a single set of hatches to shade the subject, use the method of the second sphere, and then use the method of the first sphere to darken and enforce the visual depth. Thin and light linings are used to portray the dimensional shape. Follow the contour figure of the basic form to properly portray the shade values according to its perspective

Book Learn How to Draw Faces and Portraits For the Absolute Beginner

Download or read book Learn How to Draw Faces and Portraits For the Absolute Beginner written by John Davidson and published by JD-Biz Corp Publishing. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn to Draw - Faces and Portraits - For the Absolute Beginner TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction: Drawing Tools Basic Head Layout Facial Features Eyes Nose Mouth Measuring Via Eye Size Front view Quarter view Side view/Profile Basic head layout There are few characteristics of a head that is relative to almost everyone, this similarity in measurements will be your guide if you are to construct a face when drawing a portrait. The eyes are positioned below, above or right at the center of the head’s perfect-center level. It is usually aligned with the upper tip of the ear. The head’s space above and below the eyes’ location are equal. The nose wings are usually aligned with the tear ducts, and its nose ball is aligned with the ear lobes (this similarity changes depending on the person’s age as the ears grow bigger). Both tips of the mouth are nearly aligned with the center of both eyes. Although you will surely encounter a person that has a little difference on these measurements, it would be easier for you to identify his or her unique proportion value if you have the knowledge about what is most usual. The familiarity to different angles of the head is essential when drawing faces. Head shapes differ in every angle. The position of each facial feature gradually changes as the head makes a quarter turn. And as it turns further on one side, their sizes slightly change and the features reveal their unseen angles, thus, totally changing their shape. A head facing in a perfect front view would have two equal sides most of the time, while a head in a quarter angle view shows the outline of the nose bridge which cannot be portrayed perfectly when in front view. The lips would reveal its thickness as it loses the exposure of its further tip. And the further ear and eye will lose its exposure as the head turns further on the side. These natural gradual adjustments happen when the head moves horizontally. Unlike horizontal movements, when a head moves in a diagonal direction it changes the diagonal thickness of the head dynamically, thus, the facial features follow. Each facial feature comes closer together as the head leans further. The nostrils become totally exposed as the nose ball clearly establish its distance from the plane (face surface). The thickness of the lower lip can be easily conveyed as it overlaps the upper lip, and the eye shapes would appear flat. When the head moves downwards, the nose (depending on its height) would overlap the lips, and the eyebrows (depending on its thickness) would slightly overlap the eyes. The height of the neck would be hidden as the top of the head becomes clearly conveyed, totally changing or rather hiding the face’s horizontal height. The facial ridges of males are more defined and prominent compared to females, especially the nose bridge, Brow Bridge and the jaw line. But there are few cases in which the shape of a man’s profile looks more feminine than usual or vice-versa. In this case, you have to rely on the facial features he or she have to clearly portray his or her gender, such as thick eyebrows or any facial hairs for men or pouty, glossy lips and long eyelashes for women.

Book Learn to Draw Manual Drawing for the Absolute Beginner

Download or read book Learn to Draw Manual Drawing for the Absolute Beginner written by John Davidson and published by JD-Biz Corp Publishing. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn to Draw - Manual Drawing - for the Absolute Beginner If you are an artist in search of further knowledge about drawing to enhance your skills, then this is not the book for you. This book is for the individuals who wants to be an artist but know nothing about drawing. I know how it feels when you want to illustrate an idea but you just don’t know how to start. And when you finally grabbed the confidence to mark that paper but then it turned out really terrible and you didn't want to show it to anyone. Table of contents INTRODUCTION GETTING STARTED How to grip a pencil properly Warming up SKETCHING Starting with sticks and shapes DETAILING Design Texture SHADING Casting shadows Hatching Cross-hatching Scumbling Stippling Smudging and layering Smudging Layering This instructional manual is for making the ‘two circles’ cat of yours into something more pleasing and distinguishable, for enhancing that sheep which looks like a cloud with a face, for turning your stick figures into cartoons, and more. Learn the very basics of drawing easily by following this step-by-step tutorial and realize that drawing is something that is fun to do, and not something that becomes a cause of frustration. To give you a hint of what this book is all about, look at this short list of tasks that you will learn to properly initiate after reading and following the tutorial. Tasks: Start with a loose sketch. You need to define the first look of your drawing by sketching it first so it could serve as a pattern for your permanent outlines (defined outlines). If the lay-out of your primary sketch is too far-off from the final piece that you are after, the latter parts are going to be difficult. Define permanent outlines. Trace your sketch to clearly define the contour shape (primary shape) of your drawing, and clean it up by erasing the sketch markings. Show/illustrate some texture. Texture contour provides a better portrayal of the shape’s dimension values. The details such as scales, fur or any print and texture should curve and flow with the contour shape of your subject and adjust with it accordingly. Draw the necessary details. Use a variety of line thickness and line weight (given pressure on the pencil) to show the right balance to the whole drawing, use thick lines for the parts that should visually dominate the drawing, and less visible and thin lines for the secondary details and parts that merely describe the object/subject’s form.

That is why, she used her experience and knowledge, to make sure that she learned all the easiest shortcuts, which would prevent her from throwing away items which were damaged, including clothes, food and other items around the house and garden. Consider this damage control done by grandma. Grandma was the first recycler. Dresses were handed down from child to child, and if there was no child of that particular age, and that dress size, it was handed over to another member of the family where the dress could be utilized through more years of wear and tear. After the dress was torn to nearly rags and tatters, she used the cloth for stuffing cushions and pillows or for patching other dresses. This may sound extremely laughable to our world, where there is plenty, and we can throw away or just give away things, when we think they are getting old, but these were the ways in which household managers – the females – were brought up in the East and the West down the centuries. Waste not want not, was their motto. So enjoy reading through these collected damage control tips, and techniques, which are going to help you keep healthy, fit, your house pest free and other techniques, all brought to you down the ages and time-tested. Let us start with the kitchen. The maximum number of accident, sickness at home and the kitchen somehow seems to be the gunpoint. Culinary mishaps take place all the time, there. But when they do, there should be no need to panic. There is a solution to every problem, if you do not fall into attitudes of hysteria and shock at every little disaster. And I know a few men and women who enjoy what is known in the 20th century as “creating.” So instead of acting like a prima donna Cordon Bleu chef, you can follow something my grandmother said, “there are absolutely no problems, there are only imaginative solutions.” Especially in matters of these things happening when you are entertaining. How to Fix Things in the Kitchen?
