President Eisenhower was coerced into signing a treaty after we lost over 200 pilots in this initial strike. The government has managed to keep this treaty secret since and they became known as the 'Greys.' Part of the treaty forced the use of land for two alien bases. One is commonly called Area 51, and the other is somewhere in New Mexico. In the years to follow, animal mutilations, abductions along with UFO sightings became part of urban folklore. More than seventy years pass and four high school seniors, accompanied by an air force officer are thrown together to find themselves on the other side of the galaxy in a flying saucer. During the voyage, they meet another alien race called the Anunnaki who inform them of a plan the Greys have set into motion for an Earth invasion and that there are thousands of abducted humans on their home world in a would-be POW camp prison. The only choice the band of humans has is to either risk it all to stop the invasion and save the people who were taken or try to inform the sitting president of the incoming forces. It's a do or die kind of situation and either will determine the fate for Mankind and Earth alike.

Taken as a whole these manuscripts form the oldest and most complete annals in any European vernacular tongue: only the Russian and the Irish chronicles can compare with them for antiquity. The difficulty in publishing them in compact form has always been to show the differences in the way they deal with events without repeating a large amount of matter common to all or most of the manuscripts. The nearest practicable solution was that devised by Earle and Plummer in their edition of the original texts entitled Two of the Saxon Chronicles, published by the Oxford University Press, who have kindly given permission for the arrangement of the texts in their edition (consisting mainly of the Parker and Laud MSS. Of Winchester and Peterborough, two versions of the Abingdon Chronicle and extracts from the Chronicles of Worcester and Canterbury) to be used as the basis for this new translation, which is the only version in modern English available to the student and general reader, covering the whole period A.D 450 - 1150. The fifty pages of editorial introduction contain, with the notes, much matter which is the fruit of original research and an important contribution to knowledge in this field not hitherto published, even in journals.

After Alfred traces their development from their genesis at the court of King Alfred to the last surviving chronicle produced at the Fenland monastery of Peterborough. These texts have long been part of the English national story. Pauline Stafford considers the impact of this on their study and editing since the sixteenth century, addressing all surviving manuscript chronicles, identifying key lost ones, and reconsidering these annalistic texts in the light of wider European scholarship on medieval historiography. The study stresses the plural 'chronicles', whilst also identifying a tradition of writing vernacular history which links them. It argues that that tradition was an expression of the ideology of a southern elite engaged in the conquest and assimilation of old kingdoms north of the Thames, Trent, and Humber. Vernacular chronicling is seen, not as propaganda, but as engaged history-writing closely connected to the court, whose networks and personnel were central to the production and continuation of these chronicles. In particular, After Alfred connects many chronicles to bishops and especially to the Archbishops of York and Canterbury. The disappearance of the English-speaking elite after the Norman Conquest had profound impacts on these texts. It repositioned their authors in relation to the court and royal power, and ultimately resulted in the end of this tradition of vernacular chronicling.
