Download or read book Leadership Shastras written by Pradeep Chakravarthy and published by Penguin Random House India Private Limited. This book was released on 2022-10-24 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History is the past. Surely, it's irrelevant today. Is it, though? What if history could be made to work for us in very real ways? In Leadership Shastra, Pradeep Chakravarthy does just that. He studies the lives of well-known historical figures like Shivaji, Babur, Ahilyabai Holkar, Sankaradeva and many others with a view to understand their motivations, actions and legacies. The book examines how developing a comprehension of our past could be the key to understanding our own selves, our actions, motivations and of those around us. This view of history as both useful and inspirational is unconventional: it is revealed here as a discipline that can be used for self-assessment and self-motivation. Engaging and enthralling, this is a book that will leave history buffs with much to think about, as much as it will serve as an introduction to the newbie.

Glimpses of Hope tells the story of the people who enable some of the middle-class consumer practices in urban Nepal. The book focuses on workers in areas such as modern food-processing, water-bottling, housebuilding, and sand-mining industries and explores how workers see such forms of work, where union organization can help, and how work opportunities emerge along lines of gender and ethnicity. Although global labor relations have been mostly in decline for decades, this ethnography offers insights and glimpses of hope in terms of labor dynamics and the opportunities various jobs may afford.

Book The Key To It All

Download or read book The Key To It All written by Guru Sri Shukla and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-10-16 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is enlightenment? What is the nature of the soul? Much confusion exists around these subjects, and practicality is all too often obscured by ill-defined, complex theory. When I decided to create this course I wanted to avoid these shortcomings so often found in religious teachings. To this end, impracticality and dogma have been minimized as much as possible. Since the subject of these lessons is the nature of the soul and how to care for it, I first had to be specific about how I am characterizing the soul. In Lesson One I show how throughout the history of religion, the life energy body and the mind have been considered two aspects of the soul. Once this is established, it is a relatively easy process to determine how to care for the soul, since religious teachers have taught for centuries how to care for the life energy body in systems such as Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, while advances in modern psychology have great practical application in caring for the mind.

Book Educating for Values Driven Leadership

Download or read book Educating for Values Driven Leadership written by Mary C. Gentile and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2013-08-29 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite four decades of good faith effort to teach ethics in business schools, you’ll still find today headlines about egregious excess and scandal. It becomes reasonable to ask why these efforts have not been working. Business faculty in ethics courses spend a lot of time teaching theories of ethical reasoning and analyzing those big, thorny dilemmas—triggering what one professor called “ethics fatigue.” But what if faculty stopped focusing on ethical analysis and focused on a new curriculum—one that builds a conversation across the core curriculum (not only in ethics courses) and also provides the teaching aids for a new way of thinking about ethics education? This is where Giving Voice to Values (GVV) comes in—the GVV curriculum asks the question: “What if I were going to act on my values? What would I say and do? How could I be most effective?” This book will help faculty across the business curriculum with examples, strategies, and assistance in applying the GVV approach. In addition to an introductory chapter, which explains the rationale and strategy behind GVV, there are twelve individual chapters by faculty from the major business functional areas and from faculty representing different geographic regions. The book is a useful guide for faculty from any business discipline on HOW to use the GVV approach in his or her teaching.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reflects on the models of leadership espoused by ancient Indic traditions, in particular the Advaita Vedanta tradition. Focusing primarily on the Rajarshi – ‘the philosopher king’ – the essays in this volume showcase how using these models in contemporary society could lead to the creation of self-aware and empathic leaders and an inclusive society. The book explores examples of the Brahmarshi, or the wise scholar; Rajarshi, or the wise ruler; and Devarshi, or the visionary, to bring together all the ideal virtues of inclusive leadership in the current cultural and political space. The essays in the volume adopt a critical sociological, philosophical and management lens to analyse Indic traditions and dharmic concepts. The volume uses concepts such as dharma, karma and, yoga along with organisational psychology, technology, and management, to arrive at the concept of transcendental leadership. It theorises new definitions of the Rajarshi ideal, which can be used towards public service, social transformation and self-discovery. The volume will be useful for scholars and academics interested in Indic philosophies of leadership and governance, sociology, and social and political inclusivity. An educated and intelligent person makes even an impossible thing possible and transforms an unfavourable situation into favourable one. Book Hare Krishna in the Modern World

Download or read book Hare Krishna in the Modern World written by Graham Dwyer and published by Arktos. This book was released on 2013 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "To most people, the words 'Hare Krishna' conjure images of robed monks with shaven heads singing and dancing, or selling copies of the Bhagavad Gita in the streets. These were indeed iconic of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) in its early years. Over the nearly half-century of its existence, however, the organization has changed considerably in order to remain relevant as the world around it has changed. In this volume, nine scholars, all of whom have had years of first-hand experiences with ISKCON, evaluate its successes and failures in adapting to new social and demographic circumstances while struggling to remain true to its original intentions, and offer insights into new directions that it may take in the future."--P.
