Book Teacher Leadership Reimagined

Download or read book Teacher Leadership Reimagined written by Deborah Shea and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-06-01 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who are the influential colleagues in your school? Why are they influential? We all know teachers who everyone admired as role models, supportive colleagues, and who were always ready to learn more. This study used social network theory to identify those teachers that are sought out by peers for professional advice followed by surveys and interviews to identify why these faculty members were so influential. What the study found is that teacher influencers have transformational qualities that are available to any teacher. These leadership qualities are described in the Model of Transformational Teacher Influence. For school principals, understanding your school’s network is critical to the development of culture, collaboration, and successful innovation and sustainability of change. For pre-service teacher preparation programs, this research and model would support novice teachers as they embark on building relationships in their first years of teaching. For mid-career and veteran teachers who seek to contribute to their school-communities, the study describes with clarity how influence occurs among faculty opening spaces for all teachers to lead.

Book excerpt: There's no doubting that the COVID-19 outbreak has changed the corporate landscape dramatically. In 2020, many businesses lost twenty to sixty percent of their revenue, and more than fourteen million Americans lost their employment, either temporarily or permanently. Every sector and facet of life has been affected by the pandemic. As we all rushed to adjust quickly, 2020 was a year of a drastic shift in strategies and policy. With ongoing concerns about health and safety, job security, disruptions in schooling, and financial constraints, it's clear that we can't overlook the emotional consequences. In the way we lead, real transformation is essential. We need to rethink how we lead and redefine what it means to be strong. COVID-19 has introduced a new template that we should use when hiring managers and leaders. Those with advanced "soft skills" will be the ones who lead our companies into the future.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "What do you think about Jesus?” the ministry leader asks. The student looks at her blankly. “I have no idea what you are talking about.” Times have changed. Believers who want to share their faith with others can no longer assume a basic understanding of the Bible and Christian beliefs. Increasing numbers of people know very little about Jesus or have different understandings of the Christian terms we use. In Gospel Conversations Reimagined, longtime ministry leader Cas Monaco demonstrates another way to share the gospel, one that is conversational, story-based, and meets people where they’re at. Grounded in missional theology and the true story of the world, the book’s narrative approach promotes active reliance on God’s Spirit and calls followers of Jesus to eagerly engage in meaningful gospel conversations.

Download or read book Education Reimagined written by Helen Crompton and published by International Society for Technology in Education. This book was released on 2022-08-29 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide provides district and school leaders an on-ramp for using the ISTE Standards to facilitate and implement change in their education systems. Education leaders play a central role in developing a culture of change and providing the conditions for innovation in schools, and that role varies by job title. District leaders make changes across multiple schools, principals lead change across their schools and teacher leaders guide change within and across grade levels. But no matter the role, a framework that identifies the knowledge and behaviors required for leaders to make student learning possible and for teachers to be empowered is a necessity. The ISTE Standards for Education Leaders offer a concrete framework to help leaders set goals and provide a vision for transformative systems change within educational institutions. The ISTE Standards for Educators and the ISTE Standards for Students are also used by leaders to provide holistic change with a shared vision and direction for all. Education Reimagined provides aspiring and established leaders an on-ramp for using the ISTE Standards to guide change in their educational systems. This booklet contains: • Examples showing how those in specific leadership roles can use the ISTE Standards in their work. • Reflection questions applicable to all leadership roles. • Vignettes demonstrating how a variety of leaders in a diverse range of schools have embraced the ISTE Standards for Education Leaders. • Explanation of other frameworks and standards that connect with and complement the ISTE Standards for Education Leaders. • A crosswalk between the ISTE Essential Conditions and the ISTE Standards for Education Leaders. Strong leaders use the ISTE Standards for Educators and the ISTE Standards for Students in tandem with the ISTE Standards for Education Leaders to bring about holistic change with a shared vision and direction for all. Each set of standards is relevant to the education leader and is addressed throughout this booklet.

Book Women Leadership in Emerging Markets

Download or read book Women Leadership in Emerging Markets written by Shireen Chengadu and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2017-07-06 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the increase in female leadership over the last fifty years, and the concrete benefits and challenges this leads to in organizations. It moves beyond the typical focus on developed, Western contexts and answers the call for research on how women in emerging markets rise above the proverbial “glass ceiling”. The authors integrate two underdeveloped topics that are highly relevant to modern business: women in leadership roles, and women in emerging markets. They examine how women leaders in a range of professional services—including accounting, consulting, law, engineering and medicine—have managed to navigate their careers while considering the role emerging markets play in their work. Based on cutting-edge research, the topics are brought to life through examples and profiles of leading women across Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. These narratives, told in the leaders’ own words, are key to understanding women’s achievements and the barriers they face. Students of leadership, diversity, gender studies, and human resource management will learn much from this insightful book.

Book Reimagining Design

Download or read book Reimagining Design written by Kevin G. Bethune and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2024-02-06 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The power of transformative design, multidisciplinary leaps, and diversity: lessons from a Black professional’s journey through corporate America. Design offers so much more than an aesthetically pleasing logo or banner, a beautification add-on after the heavy lifting. In Reimagining Design, Kevin Bethune shows how design provides a unique angle on problem-solving—how it can be leveraged strategically to cultivate innovation and anchor multidisciplinary teamwork. As he does so, he describes his journey as a Black professional through corporate America, revealing the power of transformative design, multidisciplinary leaps, and diversity. Bethune, who began as an engineer at Westinghouse, moved on to Nike (where he designed Air Jordans), and now works as a sought-after consultant on design and innovation, shows how design can transform both individual lives and organizations. In Bethune’s account, diversity, equity, and inclusion emerge as a recurring theme. He shows how, as we leverage design for innovation, we also need to consider the broader ecological implications of our decisions and acknowledge the threads of systemic injustice in order to realize positive change. His book is for anyone who has felt like the “other”—and also for allies who want to encourage anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-ageist behaviors in the workplace. Design transformation takes leadership—leaders who do not act as gatekeepers but, with agility and nimbleness, build teams that mirror the marketplace. Design in harmony with other disciplines can be incredibly powerful; multidisciplinary team collaboration is the foundation of future innovation. With insight and compassion, Bethune provides a framework for bringing this about.
