Book Leadership and Calling Through the Prism of Scripture

Download or read book Leadership and Calling Through the Prism of Scripture written by Fred Wantante Settuba-Male and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-29 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers phenomenological studies that examine the lived experiences of biblical leaders, emphasizing external summons and a prosocial intention while offering suggestions for future research. Part 1 focuses on various aspects of divine calling and leadership, covering topics such as the calling of biblical prophets like Jeremiah and Samuel, and the downfall of Solomon. Part 2 explores successful biblical leadership and followership from a qualitative, phenomenological lens, analyzing the experiences of Abraham, Paul, and Samson. Part 3 presents both positive and negative portrayals of biblical leadership, demonstrating how both types can lead to social justice outcomes. Presenting a Christian perspective of the relationship between the leaders and their sense of calling, this book employs a phenomenological approach to investigate the significance of various aspects of God’s calling, such as the leader’s discernment of the calling, predictors of a leader’s calling, the social- cultural influences of the calling, the relationship between personality traits and calling, and the evolution of a leader’s calling. This book will contribute to scholarly discussions related to meaningful work, workplace satisfaction, employee engagement, and responsible leadership.

  • Pages : 40 pages

Download or read book Lead Well written by MR Jeremy William Norton and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-04-11 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past few years I have been on a journey. This journey has been to become a person who is able to Lead Well. I say person because I want my leadership to encompass every role and responsibility that my life holds. I want to lead well as a husband and a father. I want to lead well as I shepherd and direct ministry. I want to lead well throughout every day-to-day interaction that I may have. I don't believe that this journey originated in my own heart and mind. I firmly feel God's calling on my life, to become a person who leads well. Furthermore, I believe that Scriptures like Philippians 1:6 confirm that any call that God has placed into us, will be carried out. Carried out, not for self-glorification, but for the blessing of others and for His glorification. It's important to note that I have definitely not arrived yet. As I said, I'm on a journey, and every journey has its share of ups and downs. Day in and day out, I make many errors of judgement. My character flaws continue to trip me up and prevent me from achieving what God has called me to be. Nevertheless, every fall that I have experienced, I must accept and place into my toolbox of life-lessons. Each leadership failure has taught me invaluable truths about myself, that have become vital to my journey. This journey has culminated into a personal mission statement that continually brings me back to my calling: "Serving Christ by cultivating biblical leadership through writing, teaching and communications." This mission statement can be broken up into 5 steps of importance and facilitation: First, (1) to be serving Christ within every aspect of my life. Second, (2) to be cultivating biblical leadership as I serve Christ in my various roles and responsibilities. Third, (3) to be writing a record of ongoing lessons and experiences, to assess personal growth. Fourth, (4) to be teaching these lessons to future leaders and/or the church as a whole. Finally, (5) to be communicating in such a way, as to share each experience with the world. Throughout this short devotional book, I will share some great Biblical truths that will provide insight into what God expects from us, as leaders. Each Scripture will be followed up by some thoughts and lessons that I have obtained, throughout my leadership journey. You may be the person who has just started to feel God's call to take on leadership in a certain area of life. On the other hand, you may be the person who has been practicing Biblical leadership for many years now.Regardless of where you are as a leader, this book will provide an opportunity to take 30-day journey towards God's call to Lead Well.

Book Refractions of the Scriptural

Download or read book Refractions of the Scriptural written by Vincent L. Wimbush and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-19 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Refractions of the Scriptural is a transdisciplinary collection of essays that seeks to construct a new field of scholarly inquiry with scriptures as a fraught category, analytical wedge, and site for excavation and problematization. The book focuses on the ways in which individual and social bodies manipulate—and are manipulated by— the politics and power encoded in language and formalized canonical knowledge. Scriptures, in this sense, function as complex phenomena that are instrumental to social conservatism as well as social critique and social change. The essays in this volume, written by established and up-and-coming scholars across a wide range of disciplines, seek to locate, engage, and interpret the ways in which the scriptural shapes and reshapes people and the dynamics of identity formation. The chapters are organized around four domains or types of inquiry: the cognitive, the conscientized, the inscriptive, and the formative. It will be of interest to scholars of religion, as well as those interested more broadly in critical social and historical studies.

In The Ways of the Leader, Bill Mowry unpacks four competencies for everyday leaders in churches, ministries, communities, and businesses. To generate wisdom as a leader, you must become a lifelong learner who views your life and leadership as God's classroom for discovery; collaborator who engages people to explore, create, and implement new approaches; cultural detective who examines assumptions and values where you lead and live; and ministry innovator who discovers solutions that are crafted to the specific needs of your community. Rise up against the chaos of today as you nurture the wisdom to choose what is good (what brings life and nourishes people) and right (what is just and fair) and impact those right where you are with practical solutions.

Book Does the Church Still Need Apostles and Prophets

Download or read book Does the Church Still Need Apostles and Prophets written by Jim Thomas and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-07-30 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does the Church Still Need Apostles and Prophets? is a book that examines the original New Testament design of the fivefold ministry of leadership in the church. It asks the question, Was the single pastorate the design of the Lord, or was it the result of our own choosing? This book intends to give the reader a look at the great foundation of the apostle and prophet in the scriptures and tackles the very difficult question of whether these giftings passed away with the first-generation church. This book examines in detail the scriptural ministries of the apostle and the prophet and why these giftings are just as valid today as they were in the first-century church. The total restoration of the plural team ministry that the book of Acts describes and the New Testament confirms will once again help the church to maintain its focus on discipleship and mission. After thirty years of functioning with fivefold leadership teams, the author shares this teaching and illustrates it with real-life examples of the transformation that happened in his own church.

Book The Calling Journey

  • Pages : 190 pages

Download or read book The Calling Journey written by Tony Stoltzfus and published by . This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever wish you had a road map to follow to your God-given destiny? The Calling Journey is just such a map, revealing the common stages and transitions leaders go through on the pathway to their call. As you read what successful leaders from all walks of life experienced on the destiny road, you'll gain an amazing perspective on how God is leveraging everything in your own story to make his dream for you come true. Along the way, you'll learn how to identify key stages in your own journey and build a personal calling timeline. When you discover what God's agenda is for each stage, you can lean into what he is doing in you instead of fighting the process. Developed by a master leadership coach, the timeline model emerged from comparing the life stories of biblical characters to those of contemporary leaders. Through hundreds of coaching encounters, plus extensive interviews with Christian leaders in business, ministry, politics and other spheres, Tony discovered that God takes each of us through predictable stages of upward growth separated by "valleys" of adversity and inner formation. While we tend to view the difficult times in the valleys as failures or detours, Tony shows how they form a vital part of God's strategy for leadership development. Just as Joseph's repeated betrayal and elevation birthed the life message that is his greatest legacy ("You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good"), The Calling Journey shows how the Great Redeemer transforms times of heartache into the seedbed of a world-changing life. The Calling Journey depicts four stages and three valleys on an easy-to-understand graphical timeline. Dozens of personal stories (along with tales of historical and biblical travelers) bring the journey to life. Coupled with an innovative understanding of call as the unique way Jesus is incarnated in us by our story, this in-depth look at the purpose of life reveals how God truly is good all the time.
