Download or read book Impacts of Climate Change on Agriculture and Aquaculture written by Karmaoui, Ahmed and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-08-28 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change is expected to influence several productive sectors, the most significant of which is agriculture. Agriculture comprises an important sector of the global economy that includes crops, livestock, and seafood. Agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries are closely linked to the climate, with changes in climatic conditions able to drastically affect animal and plant productivity, which in turn has a direct impact on human well-being. Impacts of Climate Change on Agriculture and Aquaculture is a critical scholarly publication that provides an integrated assessment of climate change impacts on agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries and explores a set of strategies to secure sustainable food security. While highlighting the associations between climate change, food security, and socio-economic development, the book establishes an inventory of good agricultural practices for the adaptation to climate change and presents solutions for making agricultural and food systems more sustainable. Featuring a wide range of topics such as carbon sequestration, ecosystem management, and desertification, this book is ideal for agriculturalists, environmentalists, fisheries, marine biologists, ichthyologists, government officials, academicians, policy makers, scientists, professionals, researchers, and students.

This book was released on 2021-10-29 with total page 2064 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change is an issue that has been generating a significant amount of discussion, research, and debate in recent years. Climate change continues to evolve at a rapid rate and continues to have a wide array of effects on everything from temperature to plant life. Beyond the negative environmental impacts, climate change is also proving to be a detriment to society with increasingly violent natural disasters and human health effects. It is essential to stay up to date on the latest in emerging research within this field as it continues to develop. The Research Anthology on Environmental and Societal Impacts of Climate Change discusses the varied effects of climate change throughout all areas of life and provides a comprehensive dive into the latest research on key elements of society that are affected by the rapidly increasing clime. Covering a range of topics including reproduction, plants and animals, and energy demand, it is ideal for environmentalists, policymakers, environmental engineers, scientists, disaster and crisis management personnel, professionals, government officials, practitioners, upper-level students, and academics interested in emerging research on the numerous impacts of climate change.

Download or read book Intelligent Solutions for Optimizing Agriculture and Tackling Climate Change Current and Future Dimensions written by Karmaoui, Ahmed and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-01-06 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interactions between climate change, agriculture, and technology are of increasing concern to academicians, educators, and planners. After the publication of the first report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), studies of the impact of climate change on productive systems such as agriculture have multiplied. The best solution can be found in new technologies and tools. Intelligent Solutions for Optimizing Agriculture and Tackling Climate Change: Current and Future Dimensions explores the importance of artificial intelligence and its effects on the future of agriculture. It further highlights the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in the agricultural field. Covering topics such as agroforestry, farming productivity, and population projections, this premier reference source is an indispensable resource for climate scientists, agricultural scientists, policymakers, computer scientists, engineers, students and educators of higher education, libraries, researchers, and academicians.

Download or read book Ice Caves written by Aurel Persoiu and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 754 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ice Caves synthesizes the latest research on ice caves from around the world, bringing to light important information that was heretofore buried in various reports, journals, and archives largely outside the public view. Ice caves have become an increasingly important target for the scientific community in the past decade, as the paleoclimatic information they host offers invaluable information about both present-day and past climate conditions. Ice caves are caves that host perennial ice accumulations and are the least studied members of the cryosphere. They occur in places where peculiar cave morphology and climatic conditions combine to allow for ice to form and persist in otherwise adverse parts of the planet. The book is an informative reference for scientists interested in ice cave studies, climate scientists, geographers, glaciologists, microbiologists, and permafrost and karst scientists. - Covers various aspects of ice occurrence in caves, including cave climate, ice genesis and dynamics, and cave fauna - Features an overview of the paleoclimatic significance of ice caves - Includes over 100 color images of ice caves around the world
Download or read book Youth Activism in Environmental Politics 2nd Edition written by Matt Henn and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-02-02 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, important new research has emerged to explain the large intergenerational cleavages in values and political preferences in many contemporary societies. In most established democracies (and many newer democracies), young people are more likely to possess progressive values and are much more cosmopolitan in their outlook (socially liberal, accepting of cultural diversity and outward looking) than older generations. They tend to reject mainstream electoral politics and authoritarian-nationalist forms of populism in favour of alternative, progressive political parties and movements. Indeed, there is burgeoning evidence of a global tendency towards young people’s support for, and participation in, new styles of non-institutionalised political action that seem to better fit their life-styles and to permit the actualisation of their political aspirations. Although there is a considerable body of existing literature that examines the rise of such values and political participation preferences, there is little work that focuses on the relationship with the prioritisation of environmental issues and environmental activism as evidenced in the September 2019 global climate strikes. The goal of the current Research Topic is to explore the contemporary realities and patterns of youth participation in environmental politics in different societies. As such, we welcome manuscripts of original research and conceptualization that address the different practices of youth as they seek to effect environmental change (and also their motivations for doing so). Contributions are welcome from scholars, youth practitioners and activists operating in a range of different settings, and using diverse disciplinary, and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives.
