La chronologie des premiers pas de la photographie tombait en désuétude. Au terme d'une incroyable enquête, ce livre vient révéler l'identité de ce "M. Huet". Une façon de lui redonner un prénom et une biographie. Une manière aussi de faire revivre un monde oublié, le monde des graveurs et lithographes parisiens lancés dans l'aventure de l'industrialisation des images. Ce récit, campé à hauteur d'épaules, en restitue les rêves et les soubresauts. Désormais, l'appareil photographique ouvrait un nouveau rapport au temps. Le portrait de M. Huet fut bien un moment décisif. Celui de la naissance d'une culture visuelle qui est toujours la nôtre.
