La diffraction de Fraunhofer est étudiée et illustrée dans les cas de la fente fine et de l’ouverture circulaire. Sa conséquence sur la limite de résolution des instruments d’optique est également analysée. Une étude détaillée de la diffraction par un réseau est réalisée. Enfin sont décrites et illustrées les notions de polarisation et de biréfringence (naturelle et provoquée).
