L’intensité de la lutte et de son corollaire, la répression, a eu pour effet d’intérioriser l’objectif de l’indépendance dans la conscience populaire, et de clarifier la question des moyens pour la réaliser. Grâce aux forces politiques et sociales mobilisées et organisées durant cette période cruciale, le peuple algérien disposait d’un potentiel précieux. Il rendit possible le déclenchement du mouvement armé du 1er novembre 1954 (FLN-ALN).
