Ainsi resurgit le questionnement sur l'intérêt général et le lien social. Alors que ce néolibéralisme est objet de débats publics dans les sociétés qui l'ont inventé, il semble triompher, au contraire, dans les pays du Sud, du fait des pressions extérieures mais aussi de l'absence de questionnement. Ainsi, en Afrique subsaharienne, certains prônent la suppression de l'Etat, en faveur de l'auto-organisation des ethnies, alors que la conflictualité du fait ethnique apparaît comme une entrave à des processus de pacification et a fortiori d'intégration sociale et politique. Ce livre est structuré autour du questionnement, à l'intérieur des sociétés, sur le lien social et l'intérêt général : le lien social est-il une valeur sociale ? Quel est l'enracinement historique de ce questionnement ? Quels sont les sujets qui l'énoncent et les pratiques sociales qui permettent d'en identifier les valeurs et les logiques ? Quelles sont les dynamiques internes qui permettent d'identifier des processus d'intégration sociale au niveau national, régional et planétaire ? Dans un sens complémentaire, quel est le questionnement des sociétés sur les origines des conflits internes ? Comment fonctionnent les services publics mis en place par l'Etat ? Quels sont les besoins formulés dans la société et lesquels sont pris en compte par les instances nationales, régionales ou suprationales ? Les politiques de développement et de coopération au développement de l'Union européenne sont-elles significatives en la matière ?

L’Hymnaire manichéen chinois presents a collection of twenty-five hymns that were intended for the Manichean religious practice of the class of Auditors. The scroll, which came to light in the early twentieth century in the province of Dunhuang (modern Ganzu) after lying buried for around twelve centuries, contains several hymns transcribed from a variety of languages that were current in Central Asia during the epoch of its redaction. This translation provides a new perspective on the Religion of Light as it was adopted in China, and on the wide reach of the message of the Iranian prophet Mani (216-276) that aimed at universal scope and was meant to unite people from all parts of the world, of whatever origin, language and history.
