Dans cette thèse, nous expliquons l’informatique dentaire de la façon la plus claire mais aussi la plus complète possible (ordinateur, réseaux, technologie numérique, logiciel dentaire, DDI, ..) afin de la démystifier et de lever les appréhensions que de trop nombreux praticiens nourrissent encore à l’égard de l’informatique au point qu’ils craignent de devoir utiliser la télétransmission qui est pourtant inéluctable. Depuis plusieurs années, il existe divers projets de dossiers médicaux en ligne dans le cadre de réseaux de soins : dossier médical sur internet ou e-dossier, outre le DMP (dossier médical personnel) permettant au patient et aux praticiens une consultation des données médicales à tout moment et en tous lieux. Le dossier informatique tout comme le dossier médical papier sera similaire sur le plan de sa composition : questionnaire médical, fiches cliniques descriptifs de l'état initial, du plan de traitement et des actes réalisés, des devis, des documents d'information, des consentements éclairés, la traçabilité de la stérilisation, la traçabilité des implants et des matériaux de comblements, la traçabilité des pièces prothétiques, des comptes rendus opératoires, des ordonnances délivrées et des fiches de conseil, les pièces radiologiques, les photographies 3D des modèles. Le chirurgien-dentiste utilisateur devra veiller à une sauvegarde régulière des données et à la protection du secret professionnel dont toute rupture aura des conséquences civiles, pénales et déontologiques. Plus précisément, l'informatique est un outil performant pour informer, de façon claire, loyale et personnalisée, son patient et représente une aide précieuse à l'apport de la preuve du respect du devoir d'information par le praticien dans le cadre d'une mise en cause du praticien. Un dossier médical numérique bien tenu représentant la pierre angulaire d'une expertise.
