This book was released on 2023-11-10 with total page 687 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Las Vegas, New Mexico, isn’t exactly sin city, but that doesn’t keep this quiet little town from seeing its share of unexpected murders! And while Skye O’Malley, owner of the Levitation Latte coffee shop, might be doing her best to lead a quiet life, she finds herself called to bring her talent reading tea leaves — and having a prophetic dream here and there — to solve those crimes. Lattes and Levitation is a lighthearted small town mystery series with an overarching romance subplot carries throughout the books. This boxed set includes the first three books in the Lattes and Levitation paranormal cozy series: Caffeine Before Curses Skye’s witch powers are nothing special. When a film crew comes to town, though, those powers are put to the test when the film’s star — her unrequited crush — is accused of murder. Max needs a miracle, but if Skye’s tea leaves are too murky, a killer could get away clean. Muffins After Magic When Skye and Max discover the dead body of the town mayor in the harvest festival’s corn maze, Skye pushes her magical boundaries with the help of YouTube how-to spellcasting videos. Now not only does she have a highly annoyed talking cat, a murderer has taken notice…. Pastries and Prophecies Skye had hoped February would involve surprises like Valentine chocolates, not the mother who abandoned her showing up out of the blue to teach her about the family magic. But when her mother is accused of murder, Skye’s efforts to prove her innocence could make her the next to die. KEYWORDS: witch, psychic, medium, telepath, movie star hero, actor hero, celebrity hero, small town romance, small town mystery, opposites attract, slow burn romance, cozy mystery, cozy witch mystery, coffee shop, kitchen witch, boxed set, omnibus, bundle

Book excerpt: Penny Briggs is a perfectly ordinary woman. Until her life takes a left turn at Albuquerque… I thought my marriage would be a fairy tale. Instead, I’ve put a thousand miles between me and my broken dream, starting over with temp job in Albuquerque. Prop shopping for a TV production takes my mind off my troubles — until I buy an old pair of glasses no one on the set can wear. Curious, I look through the lenses myself — and they show me a wild vision of a lonely desert canyon I’ve never seen before. A friend directs me and my weird glasses to her cousin, a brujo — a male witch — who specializes in weird. He’s also the most spectacularly handsome man I’ve ever seen, with black hair, dark eyes, and a flashing smile so dazzling, I almost miss his casual remark that my magic is powerful. Magic? What magic? I’m just an ordinary woman from an ordinary family. Yet as the two of us explore the mystery surrounding those supernatural glasses — and give in to our growing attraction — I discover a past I knew nothing about. And that there’s a dangerous reason it’s been hidden from me all these years….

Isaac Zamora, the hunky male witch who’s crash-coursing me in my newly discovered magic, makes me long for something I haven’t wanted since I left my cheating ex. So what if Isaac wants to take things at a glacial pace? He’s worth waiting for. When I pick up an old compass with a wildly confused needle, I don’t question the tingle that zings up my arm. I take it straight to Isaac. The compass doesn’t give up its secrets easily, but it does point the way toward a mystery doubled-edged with danger. Because right about the time the compass appears in my life, so does my ex. Are you smelling a rat? So am I. Especially when he’s smelling up my living room, dead as a doornail. And looking like his last glimpse of life was a demon from hell….

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a movie shoot ends in murder, a caffeine fix might be the star’s only hope. Skye O’Malley’s grandmother always told her she inherited the Sight. But other than an occasional message from a blob of tea leaves or a vague dream, Skye doesn’t think she’s anything special, since she can’t even predict which of her coffee-shop customers will order hard-core black or fancy frou-frou with extra foam. The only instinct she can rely on is the jangly feeling that something is about to happen. Like when her best friend (and only employee) Deanne tells her that a film crew is coming to their hometown of Las Vegas, New Mexico. The lead is Hollywood’s hottest action-movie star, Max Sullivan, who just happens to be Skye’s former "boy next door"…and her lifelong, unrequited crush. Just having him around unbalances Skye's carefully curated existence. But when she starts having disturbing dreams involving Max and a prop gun, she can’t ignore them. Especially when the film’s notoriously unpleasant director turns up dead, and the evidence points to one prime suspect. Max. Max needs a miracle, not a not-quite witch. But he’s placing all his trust in Skye — and her murky tea leaves — to help him find the real culprit before the actual murderer gets away clean. Book Television Series of the 1990s

Download or read book Television Series of the 1990s written by Vincent Terrace and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2018-06-07 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1990s the big three networks were being challenged by upstarts FOX and the WB for viewer loyalty. Alongside must-see stalwarts like Frasier, Friends, and Seinfeld, the new networks introduced pop culture touchstones like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files. Such shows not only made household names of their stars, but also thrived in syndication and some even graduated to the big screen. In that decade, shows such as ER, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Northern Exposure were vying for awards while programs like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Home Improvement drew in millions of viewers each week. Even after these shows departed the airwaves, they live on in syndication and on DVDs, entertaining many generations of viewers. In Television Series of the 1990s: Essential Facts and Quirky Details, Vincent Terrace presents readers with a cornucopia of information about sixty programs from the decade. For example, did you know that Ally McBeal’s favorite brand of ice cream is Ben and Jerry’s? Or that Hank Hill’s shoe size is 12? Or that Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite cookie is Double-Stuff Oreos? These are just a handful of hundreds of fun and intriguing specifics found inside this volume. Programs from all of the major networks—as well as select syndicated programs and HBO—are represented here. This is not a book of opinions or essays about specific television programs but a treasure trove of facts associated with each show. FromNiles Crane’s I.Q score to George Constanza’s high score on Frogger, readers will discover a wealth of fascinating information that, for the most part, cannot be found elsewhere. In some cases, the factual data detailed herein is the only such documentation that currently exists on bygone shows of the era. Television Series of the 1990s is the ideal reference for fans of this decade and anyone looking to stump even the most knowledgeable trivia expert.

In the meantime, Serena struggles to paint a convincing picture of complete devotion to Lucius, while holding out for a miracle that The Watchers will manage to rescue her captured lover. Book Non Professional Subtitling

Download or read book Non Professional Subtitling written by Yvonne Lee and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2017-08-21 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From fansubbing, fan-generated translation, to user-generated translation, from amateur translation to social translation, non-professional subtitling has come a long way since its humble beginning in the 1980s. The prevailing technological affordance enables and mobilises the digital generation to turn subtitling into a method of self-expression and mediation, and their activities have made translation a more social and visible activity than ever before. This volume provides a comprehensive review of the current state of play of this user-generated subtitling phenomenon. It includes projects and research focusing on various aspects of non-professional subtitling, including the communities at work, the agents at play, the production conditions and the products. The perspectives in the book explore the role played by the agents involved in the emerging subtitling networks worldwide, and their impact on the communities is also discussed, based on empirical data generated from observations on active fansubbing communities. The collection demonstrates, from various viewpoints, the ways in which non-professional subtitling connects languages, cultures and communities in a global setting.
