Most are inherent with humor, some showing anger, others remorse; all of the 342 thoughts are totally original and each bringing incredibly relatable thoughts to the readers. Aside from being a great gift book to a loved one - including oneself - A Man's Late Night Thoughts is different things to different people. To those readers suffering a loss, these thoughts will help heal and comfort their emotions; to those yearning wisdom through experiences, this will enlighten and illuminate so many of life's situations; or for those readers confused, these thoughts will guide them onto a course or direction worthy of the wisdom within. Good advice, well taken, is the sign of an intelligent person. Good advice, given in such succinct sentences, is the sign of a brilliant mind; timeless in it's philosophical content and psychological understanding of human behavior, unabashed in revealing his own personal incidents of love, loss, and the celebration of life. When reading this book for the second time, so much more was revealed, so I recommend going back to this time and time again." - Beth Adams

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Loneliness has reached epidemic proportions, according to many sources. In an age of mobility and fraying civic life, we are all susceptible to its power. But what if loneliness is a necessary part of the human condition? What if it is a current that leads us deeper into belonging--to ourselves, to each other, and to God? In The Great Belonging, writer and spiritual director Charlotte Donlon reframes loneliness and offers us a language for the disquiet within. Instead of turning away from the waters of loneliness for fear they will engulf us, she invites us to wade in and see what we find there. In vulnerable, thoughtful prose, Donlon helps us understand our own occasional or frequent loneliness and offers touchpoints for understanding alienation. We can live into the persistent questions of loneliness. We can notice God's presence even when we feel alone in our doubts. Ultimately, Donlon claims, we can find connection that emerges from honesty, and she offers tools, resources, and practices for transforming loneliness into true belonging.

It is literally the best self-help book you could ever read because it is all about you. Just some of the benefits of journaling are:* Allows you to reflect on your life and the changes you are choosing to make or not make* Clarifies your thinking and as Tony Robbins says "Clarity is Power"* Houses all your million dollar ideas that normally get lost in all the noise of life* Exposes repeated patterns of behaviors that get you the results you DON'T want* Acts as a bucket for you to brain dump in - a cluttered mind leads to a disorganized life* Revisits daily situations giving you a chance to look at it with a different perspective* Doesn't crash and lose everything you put into it like electronics (just like electronics though don't get it wet)You may want to keep multiple journals; one that contains your truest and most secret feelings that you guard heavily, but need a way to express. Another that contains all those fantastic ideas, creative endeavors, dreams and awesome goals. Maybe just something you doodle in.No matter how you use it getting into the daily habit of journaling has the potential to improve the quality of your life.Let's look past the simple fact you know how to physically write in a journal and dig into how to actually use your journal. It might contain all the secrets to life's biggest problems but unless you know how to uncover those secrets they stay hidden away in your words.* Let the words flow from the heart and be filled with emotions, no holdbacks* Make a daily journaling schedule. Each and every day take the time to record your thoughts morning and night. If you love to type notes into your phone all day transfer them to your journal after.* Sit in a quiet spot and allow yourself to be emotionally and creatively free. Your journal is not a reason to turn yourself into an emotional punching bag.* Start small. You do not need to write a specific number of words. Just the right amount of honest words that let you feel a sense of being free from negativity and energized with possibility.* If you write in your journal like someone is going to read it, you will ever allow yourself to fully express what needs to be expressed. Write like no one will ever read it because it is likely no one ever will unless you want them to. Write how you loved something, were mad at someone, wished something was different or anything you need to.Just do it. Start today writing in your journal. Download or read book Musings written by Erminia Lopez Rincon and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-04-01 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The poems in this book were extrapolated from the author's extensive writings beginning in 1961 to 1985 during which period she was involved in psychological therapy and at times hypnotism. Erminia's first twenty years were beset with traumatic experiences. Not knowing whom to trust, she received no help in dealing with them. She had no inkling that she was burring the episodes and their effects thereby enabling her to cope with current difficulties and to succeed academically. She married, bore five children, was involved in her husband's and children's activities and in her community and church functions. As a licensed cosmetologist, she operated a small shop in her home. Erminia did not realize she was running on "empty" until she began to experience strange mental "waves" which she quieted by resting in bed until they disappeared. Because the latter continued, were more frequent and intense, she believed she had no recourse but to seek psychological assistance. She let no one, not even her husband, know that she was having problems. With the support of her therapists, she was able to bring forth the past traumatic experiences. She was no longer troubled by the "waves" which had driven her to seek help. Throughout the many years of therapy she wrote extensively about it and its outcome. She filled dozens of spiral notebooks and single lined sheets of paper about outcomes of her therapy and her return to normalcy. She continues to write about her life and activities but to a significantly lesser degree.

Book excerpt: Walter Bannister had the manner that nothing could rival and no one could imitate, and with it a rare intelligence and perfect rectitude, complete self-command and not a trace of vanity or a hint of ambition for anything he did not already have. He was what every trial court judge should be. When he entered his courtroom, it was as if he had been there the whole time: one moment everything all chaos and confusion, a hundred jumbled voices, lawyers, jurors, spectators crowding the benches, the next moment, when the door at the side opened, nothing but silence. No one could remember anything except what was right in front of them: the judge, tall, thin, the slightest touch of gray in the auburn hair cut short and parted on the side, moving with a scholar’s eye and the sure, gliding step of a man who had been something of an athlete in his youth. Walter Bannister often told himself that he had nothing to complain about. Seen from the outside, he had the perfect life: a respected judge, a house in Bel Aire, the fortunate son of a father who had become one of the richest men in Los Angeles, and the husband of an important woman, wealthy in her own right and just about the first person anyone would call who wanted a charitable event to be so successful everyone talked about for months. He had everything, and still he had nothing at all. There was no excitement in his life, no sense of adventure, nothing like what he had seen in the movies of his childhood, the movies that had depicted the kind of life he thought he would live. Life was something lived by others, something he saw every day in his courtroom but never felt himself. With growing fascination, Walter Bannister tries to understand what makes criminals behave the way they do. He becomes more and more obsessed with what drives someone to murder. His own life an empty shell, he has forgotten, if he ever knew, how to feel anything. Presiding over the murder trial of a man without conscience or remorse, he decides that people kill, not because they are abnormal, different from the rest of us, but for the sheer thrill of it. He wonders, he has to know, what it would be like to kill someone. Is that the secret of what it means to be alive, to know, to really know, what it is like to kill? Walter Bannister must find out...even if it means the consequences are deadly.
