At the same time it offers an engaging argument about human rights and their relationship with politics. The author argues that human rights have only a slight relation to natural rights and they are historically novel: In large part they are a post-1945 reaction to genocide which is, in turn, linked directly to the lethal potentialities of the nation-state. He suggests that an understanding of human rights should nonetheless focus primarily on politics and that there are no universally agreed moral or religious standards to uphold them, they exist rather in the context of social recognition within a political association. A consequence of this is that the 1948 Universal Declaration is a political, not a legal or moral, document. Vincent goes on to show that human rights are essentially reliant upon the self-limitation capacity of the civil state. With the development of this state, certain standards of civil behaviour have become, for a sector of humanity, slowly and painfully more customary. He shows that these standards of civility have extended to a broader society of states. At their best human rights are an ideal civil state vocabulary. The author explains that we comprehend both our own humanity and human rights through our recognition relations with other humans, principally via citizenship of a civil state. Vincent concludes that the paradox of human rights is that they are upheld, to a degree, by the civil state, but the point of such rights is to protect against another dimension of this same tradition (the nation-state). Human rights are essentially part of a struggle at the core of the state tradition.

The linguistic EOPs above led to many amazing historical discoveries, including revelations about Anne Frank’s Diary; Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf”; Sophie Scholl’s White Rose group; Joseph Goebbels’ “Der Nazi Sozi”; Martin Niemoller’s verse “First They Came For the Socialists”; the swastika symbol, the hexagram (Star of David), and how Hitler changed BOTH symbols together; the etymological history of “Roman Salute”; and much more! Except for the American Linguist Laureate Dr. Rex Curry, every other historian did not see how the USA’s Pledge of Allegiance led to Nazi salutes and Nazi behavior; and how the original pledge’s use of military salutes led to Nazi salutes. Also, historians did not see the similar symbolism of Adolf Hitler's NSV, SA, and SS logos, as compared with the logo of Hitler's party: the National Socialist German Workers Party. Even today, only exceptional scholars with extraordinary skills (e.g. Dr. Curry) are able to discern the “S”-letter shape of the NSV’s logo (The National Socialist People's Welfare; in German: Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt). The "S" symbolism is almost as difficult to perceive as in Hitler’s Hakenkreuz (hooked cross). It is as undetectable as in the symbols for the SS and SA (Schutzstaffel and Sturmabteilung). All historians (other than Dr. Curry) did not see how Hitler used his party's symbol to represent "S"-letter shapes for "SOCIALIST." Do you not see? Professor Curry transformed the culture of India along with Hinduism and Buddhism. Before Dr. Curry’s discoveries, Buddhists and Hindus published complaints that “Hitler stole their swastika symbol and ruined it and they want to restore respect for their ancient symbol.” Educational Outreach Programs (EOP) about Dr. Curry’s work taught India’s commentators that Hitler’s symbol was not a swastika, and that Hitler never called it a swastika. An upheaval occurred among Buddhists and Hindus in their objections. Now they proudly assert: “Hitler called his symbol a Hakenkreuz (hooked cross), not a swastika. It was not the same symbol. Dr. Curry told us!”

World War I caused approximately 16 million fatalities. Most of the 5 million non-combatants succumbed from starvation or Spanish Influenza. World War II resulted in 60 million deaths, 52% of them civilians. One warped "idealist" sparked that fruitless orgy of destruction: Adolf Hitler.

The old laws against queers were enforced and new laws were enacted that made everyone suspect. Nikki and Erich had to flee or face the prospect of life in a concentration camp, so they started a new life in Canada. In 1935 Nikki returned to Berlin to help his mother with his ailing father. Shortly thereafter his mother, angry with him for his lifestyle and his desire to go back to Erich, turned him over to the SS. Erich would not let the man he loved languish in a concentration camp. He made a plan to save Nikki, but for the plan to succeed Erich had to become the monster that he ran from as a Brownshirt; he had to become a NAZI.
