Book Laser Spectroscopy of Combustion Intermediates in a Supersonic Jet Expansion

Download or read book Laser Spectroscopy of Combustion Intermediates in a Supersonic Jet Expansion written by Prabhakar Misra and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A detailed analysis of the laser-induced fluorescence spectra of jet-cooled alkoxy, alkylthio and aromatic radicals has helped to characterize these radicals spectroscopically. All three groups of radicals are involved in the chemistry of organic fuel combustion. A clearer knowledge about the spectroscopy of these chemical intermediates is necessary for improved understanding of the free-radical controlled reaction steps occurring in combustion processes.

Book An Introduction to Laser Spectroscopy

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the new edition the editors have preserved the basic concept and structure, with the involvement of some new authors - all recognized experts in laser spectroscopy. Each chapter addresses a different technique, providing a review and analysis of the current status, and reporting some of the latest achievements. With the key formulas and methods detailed in many sections, this text represents a practicable handbook of its subject. It will be a valuable tool both for specialists to keep abreast of developments and for newcomers to the field needing an accessible introduction to specific methods of laser spectroscopy - and also as a resource for primary references.

Book excerpt: The Fifth International Conference on Laser Spectroscopy or VICOLS, was held at Jasper Park Lodge, in Jasper, Canada, June 29 to July 3, 1981. Following the tradition of the previous conferences in Vail, Megeve, Jackson Lake, and Rottach-Egern, it was hoped that VICOLS would provide an opportunity for act ive scientists to meet in an informal atmosphere for discussions of recent developments and applications in laser spectroscopy. The excellent conference facilities and remote location of Jasper Park Lodge in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, amply fulfilled these expectations. The conference was truly international, with 230 scientists from 19 countries participating. The busy program of invited talks lasted four days, with two evening sessions, one a panel discussion on Rydberg state spectro scopy, the other a lively poster session of approximately 60 post-deadline papers. We wish to thank all of the participants for their outstanding contribu tions and for preparation of their papers, now available to a wider audience. Our thanks go to the members of the International Steering Committee for their suggestions and recommendations. We are especially pleased to have held this conference under the auspices of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics. VICOLS would not have been possible with out the financial support of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Office of Naval Research and Air Force Office of Scientific Research of the United States* of America.

Book Molecular Dynamics and Spectroscopy by Stimulated Emission Pumping

Download or read book Molecular Dynamics and Spectroscopy by Stimulated Emission Pumping written by Hai-Lung Dai and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 1154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the first stimulated emission pumping (SEP) experiments more than a decade ago, this technique has proven powerful for studying vibrationally excited molecules. SEP is now widely used by increasing numbers of research groups to investigate fundamental problems in spectroscopy, intramolecular dynamics, intermolecular interactions, and even reactions. SEP provides rotationally pre-selected spectra of vibrationally highly excited molecules undergoing large amplitude motions. A unique feature of SEP is the ability to access systematically a wide variety of extreme excitations localized in various parts of a molecule, and to prepare populations in specific, high vibrational levels. SEP has made it possible to ask and answer specific questions about intramolecular vibrational redistribution and the role of vibrational excitation in chemical reactions.

Book Laser Spectroscopy and Dynamics of Transient Species Formed in Pyrolysis Reactions

Download or read book Laser Spectroscopy and Dynamics of Transient Species Formed in Pyrolysis Reactions written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research concerns the study of the spectroscopy and excited state dynamics of a number of transient molecules containing either sulfur or oxygen. The identification and study of sulfur species which are analogs of important oxygen-containing combustion intermediates is important to our understanding of reactive intermediates. The oxygen-containing species chosen for study are new systems whose electronic spectra have not previously been identified. The major experimental technique used in this work was pyrolysis jet spectroscopy. Since many of the species have not been previously studied by laser techniques, much effort was devoted to determining methods for producing and observing them. We have been very successful in a number of cases and have developed some further experimental techniques.

Book Laser Spectroscopy and Dynamic of Transient Species Progress Report June 1 1992 May 31 1993

Download or read book Laser Spectroscopy and Dynamic of Transient Species Progress Report June 1 1992 May 31 1993 written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Work on sub-Doppler spectroscopy of thioformaldehyde is nearing completion; the sub-Doppler structure in the H2CS spectrum correlates with previous observations of anomalously long fluorescence lifetimes and reduced quantum yields of fluorescence under collision-free conditions. Singlet-triplet perturbations are large and occur haphazardly when levels in the two states are near- coincidence. High-resolution FTIR spectra of many bands of HCOCl and DCOCl have been recorded. Laser fluorescence on formic acid is being studied. Reactive jet spectroscopy is being used to produce new reactive intermediates in F2/Ar gas streams. Preliminary experiments are underway in S3 and S4 systems.
