Book CO2 Laser Cutting

Download or read book CO2 Laser Cutting written by John Powell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CO2 Laser Cutting explains and describes how engineering materials are cut using a CO2 laser. Information is given on the cutting of metals and non metals on a wide range of levels from practical advice and processing parameters to explanations of the physical and chemical reactions which take place in the cut zone. In an effort to make the book as readable and informative as possible the subject is treated in a descriptive rather than a mathematical way. The benefit of CO2 Laser Cutting is twofold as it gives practical advice to the operator and technical advice to the researchers or scientist.

Book CO2 Lasers Effects and Applications

Download or read book CO2 Lasers Effects and Applications written by W Duley and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CO2 Lasers: Effects and Applications examines and summarizes the important applications of the device in different areas of study like physics, chemistry, and engineering. In some parts of the book, the reader is assumed to be knowledgeable in university level mathematics or some specialized area in physics or chemistry. The book consists of 10 chapters where the first two establish the general concepts on lasers and CO2 lasers, respectively. Chapter 3 takes the reader further and presents a comprehensive review of optical components for use such as detectors, windows, and mirrors. Because the CO2 laser is mostly used as a heat source, the theory of laser-surface heating is relevant in the discussion. This theory is presented in Chapter 4. Chapters 5 and 6 meanwhile present a summary of observations on cutting, welding, and some related topics. The following chapters discuss the different applications of CO2 lasers in different areas and processes. Some of these applications include in the generation of thermal effect, laser deposition of thin films, spectroscopy, laser photochemistry, and meteorology and communication systems. The text is a good source of reference to both students and scientists in the areas of physics, chemistry, and engineering.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past ten years, carbon dioxide laser surgery has made impressive strides and is now applied to every field of surgery without exception. It is the intention of this book to record the work done in this field in the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Beilinson Medical Center and Tel Aviv University Medical School, Israel, as well as that performed in association with other depart ments. In this context, one feels that it is incumbent upon one to acknowledge the cooperation of the medical and paramedical staff of the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Beilinson Medical Center, as well as that of Prof. Yehuda Shindel and Dr. Daniel Katenelson of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, Dr. Y ona Tadir of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Dr. Itamar Kott of the Department of General Surgery. I should like to make special mention of Dr. Ralph Ger of New York, who worked with me on the original clinical trials, and the engineer Uzi Sharon, who developed the Sharplan Laser with me. The progress of Laser Surgery is well demonstrated by the participation in the four meetings of the International Society for Laser Surgery, the first of which was held in Tel Aviv in 1975 with an attendance of 65 and the last in Tokyo in 1981 with an attendance of 1200.

Book Lasers Lights and Other Technologies

Download or read book Lasers Lights and Other Technologies written by Maria Claudia Almeida Issa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-23 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series “Clinical Approach and Procedures in Cosmetic Dermatology” intends to be a practical guide in Cosmetic Dermatology. Procedures in cosmetic dermatology are very popular and useful in medicine, indicated to complement topical and oral treatments not only for photodamaged skin but also for other dermatosis such as acne, rosacea, scars, etc. Also, full-face treatments using peelings, lasers, fillers and toxins are increasingly being used, successfully substituting or postponing the need for plastic surgeries. Altogether, these techniques not only provide immediate results but also help patients to sustain long-term benefits, both preventing/treating dermatological diseases and maintaining a healthy and youthful skin. Throughout this series, different treatments in Cosmetic Dermatology will be discussed in detail covering the use of many pharmacological groups of cosmeceuticals, the new advances in nutraceuticals and emerging technologies and procedures. This volume addresses the most important physical approaches in cosmetic dermatology, disclosing their uses and advantages. Here are discussed in detail the applicability of lasers and other lights, photodynamic therapy, radiofrequency, ultrasound and transepidermal drug delivery.

Book Compact CO2 Laser Design and Analysis

Download or read book Compact CO2 Laser Design and Analysis written by Erik H. Martin and published by . This book was released on 1999-06-01 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CO2 lasers, among the most efficient and powerful of all lasers, have many applications in industrial and medical fields. Unfortunately, their typical bulky size and fragility tend to limit their use in austere military environments. The purpose of this thesis is to present and analyze a new optical cavity design that can possibly fill the need for a compact, high power, ruggedly packaged infrared laser. Such a system could be used for targeting, communications, or field medical use. The analysis involves entering design parameters into a commercial software program and simulating the behavior of a collimated laser beam within. While results identify significant optical aberration flaws, the extensive design revision needed does not preclude eventual construction.
