Book Las migraciones en el mundo

Download or read book Las migraciones en el mundo written by Francisco Checa and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Handbook of Transnational Families Around the World

Download or read book Handbook of Transnational Families Around the World written by Javiera Cienfuegos and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook compiles the most up-to-date research on transnational families. It employs a dialogue between classical approaches and cutting-edge directions in transnational family research to identify continuities and changes in terms of socioeconomic disparities and actors, and to analyze coexistence. Further, the volume adopts a twofold global and international comparative perspective. On the one hand, it focuses on different migratory flows around the world and describes their entangled logics; on the other, it is written by an international group of contributors, with a diverse range of professional backgrounds. Their contributions are based on sound empirical research, and explore geographical regions around the world. The handbook presents different thematic perspectives on transnational families, including an analytical focus on gender, global sociodemographic inequalities, power asymmetries, and border- and mobility regimes, as well as the organization of transnational care, transnational fatherhood, ageing, family reunions and return. It also includes a variety of methodological approaches to transnational family research, ranging from ethnography, biographical research, and life-course methods, to multi-sited approaches and quantitative surveys. Investigating an emergent debate, it sheds new light on migratory fluxes, their common and specific determinants, the types of actors involved, and ways to empirically and methodologically approach them. This is a must-read reference for social scientists interested in family research, migration, and gender studies. Download or read book Migration and Health written by Sandro Galea and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2022-11-25 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new introduction to a timeless dynamic: how the movement of humans affects health everywhere. International migrants compose more than three percent of the world’s population, and internal migrants—those migrating within countries—are more than triple that number. Population migration has long been, and remains today, one of the central demographic shifts shaping the world around us. The world’s history—and its health—is shaped and colored by stories of migration patterns, the policies and political events that drive these movements, and narratives of individual migrants. Migration and Health offers the most expansive framework to date for understanding and reckoning with human migration’s implications for public health and its determinants. It interrogates this complex relationship by considering not only the welfare of migrants, but also that of the source, destination, and ensuing-generation populations. The result is an elevated, interdisciplinary resource for understanding what is known—and the considerable territory of what is not known—at an intersection that promises to grow in importance and influence as the century unfolds.

Book Globalization migration and development the role of Mexican migrant remittances Working Paper ITD Documento de Trabajo ITD n 20

Download or read book Globalization migration and development the role of Mexican migrant remittances Working Paper ITD Documento de Trabajo ITD n 20 written by J. Ernesto López Córdova and published by BID-INTAL. This book was released on 2006 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, we present evidence indicating that international migrant remittances lead to improved developmental outcomes. Using a cross-section of all Mexican municipalities (over 2400) in the year 2000, we show that an increase in the fraction of households receiving international remittances is correlated with better schooling and health indicators and with reductions in poverty, even after controlling for the likely endogeneity between remittances and developmental outcome variables. Our findings have important policy implications as they suggest that national governments and the international community should adopt measures that facilitate remittance flows.

Book Immigration crime link On falseness and inevitability

Download or read book Immigration crime link On falseness and inevitability written by Ana María López Narbona and published by Dykinson. This book was released on 2021-07-29 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a key outcome of the book, a statistical analysis will be carried out to confirm social groups´ homogeneity and confrontation within the Spanish society. Data for the statistical analysis are taken from Survey number 2967 of 2012 of Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS). The statistical analysis is very important to understand how identity theories work in Spanish society. Indeed, social identities within the Spanish society are homogeneous, dialectical, and confrontational. Therefore, answers of respondents on immigration-crime link are necessarily homogeneous, dialectical and confrontational. Hence the paradox “on falseness and inevitability”.
