Book Espacio y territorio

Download or read book Espacio y territorio written by Hubert Mazurek and published by IRD Éditions. This book was released on 2018-11-20 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book El territorio ordenado es nuestra oportunidad written by Uriel Gonzalo Murcia García and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This publication contains the results of the Territorial Planning component and responds to the request of the peasant communities during the field work phase, in the sense of offering them an easy-to-understand document with the results achieved by this component. Therefore, the land use planning component of the DLSyGP project, developed in the municipality of Vista Hermosa (Meta), is highly relevant, particularly in the context of the AMEM -Macarena Special Management Area-, and in general , in the Colombian Amazon, because there was a new way of understanding and addressing the importance of ecosystem services in land management. The foregoing means understanding the opportunities offered by the territory and the impacts generated by the activities carried out there, when these fundamental services for the well-being of the population are not yet understood and valued."--Translated from publisher's website.

Book excerpt: Social and cultural geography is practised by geographers from around the world. However, for various reasons including language and publishing traditions, knowledge of the research being undertaken can often remain confined to those working within those countries. This book draws together, for the first time into one volume, reports of social and cultural geography undertaken in several countries from around the world. It provides an important overview of geographic ideas and traditions, and the history of human geography more generally, allowing comparison between countries and details of key studies and references. As such, the book will be of interest to geographers schooled in different national traditions, and those interested in the production and history of geographic knowledge. Entries are written in both English and the country’s own national language.

Book Territorial Rule in Colombia and the Transformation of the Llanos Orientales

Download or read book Territorial Rule in Colombia and the Transformation of the Llanos Orientales written by Jane M. Rausch and published by University Press of Florida. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until the 1980s, Colombia's Llanos Orientales was a frontier, a vast tropical grassland plain east of the Andes. Populated mainly by indigenous people, it was considered "primitive" by much of the rest of Colombia. All of that changed when exploitable petroleum deposits were discovered, and the Llanos was transformed into the fastest growing region in the country. Rausch surveys sixty years of the area's history, from La Violencia—the civil war that rocked the country from 1948 to 1958—and the presidency of Rojas Pinilla, who helped pacify the Llanos in the late 1950s, to the National Front agreement between the Conservative and Liberal parties during the 1960s, its aftermath, and the rapid changes during the last half of the twentieth century. Using archival research and her own first-hand experiences, Jane Rausch examines the Colombian government's Llanos policies and the political, economic, and social changes they have brought about. This book brings to a strong conclusion Rausch's large-scale historical survey of a region: one sharing much in common with other South American frontiers and critical to Colombia's present and future.
