These precious berries are very important to the people of Evermore. They are a major staple in their diet, providing vitamins, nutrients and spiritual well being. Without them, the fate of Evermore may be doomed. That is why Larry Longbottom must valiantly lead six of his dearest friends on a perilous journey into the Sativa Mountains to retrieve these berries. Most of them have never ventured beyond the safe borders of Evermore Town. Now they must journey far into the unknown on a most dangerous expedition for the fate of Evermore. Along the way, they eagerly receive help from the legendary Micky Shroom. He gives them helpful advice and special directions through the mysterious backcountry of the Land of Evermore. It is Micky's special directions that help Larry and his friends find the Secret Road, which takes them straight to the Caspian Pass and saves them almost a whole day's journey. Larry and his friends rely on skill, valor and superb teamwork, characteristic of an Evermore. Above all, it is their love for Evermore that drives them onward through this expedition. This important expedition will forever be known as The Great Quest of Evermore.

Book The Changing Face of Evil in Film and Television

Download or read book The Changing Face of Evil in Film and Television written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popular media of film and television surround us daily with images of evil - images that have often gone critically unexamined. In the belief that people in ever-increasing numbers are turning to the media for their understanding of evil, this lively and provocative collection of essays addresses the changing representation of evil in a broad spectrum of films and television programmes. Written in refreshingly accessible and de-jargonised prose, the essays bring to bear a variety of philosophical and critical perspectives on works ranging from the cinema of famed director Alfred Hitchcock and the preternatural horror films Halloween and Friday the 13th to the understated documentary Human Remains and the television coverage of the immediate post-9/11 period. The Changing Face of Evil in Film and Television is for anyone interested in the moving-image representation of that pervasive yet highly misunderstood thing we call evil.

  • Pages : pages

Download or read book Doing Feminism written by Anne Marsh and published by Melbourne Univ. Publishing. This book was released on 2021-11-02 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doing Feminism represents over 220 artists and groups with 370 colour illustrations punctuated by extracts from artists’ statements, curatorial writing and critique. Tracking networks of art practice, exhibitions, protest and critical thought over several generations, Marsh demonstrates the innovation and power of women’s art and the ways in which it has influenced and changed the contemporary art landscape in Australia and internationally. The images and texts are curated by decade and contextualised to provide a broad analysis of art and feminist criticism since the late 1960s. The result of many years of research in the field and the archive, Doing Feminism reproduces essays by key protagonists involved in the critical debates and theoretical positions of the day, including curators writing on exhibitions that signalled major change, especially for Indigenous artists. This extraordinary work presents one of the most comprehensive collections of material ever compiled on women and the arts in Australia. Marsh guides the reader through the struggles, contestations and achievements of women and feminism in the visual arts and argues that this is the doing of feminism with all its differences. It will become essential reading for years to come.

Book Contemporary Art and Feminism

Download or read book Contemporary Art and Feminism written by Jacqueline Millner and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-07-05 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important new book examines contemporary art while foregrounding the key role feminism has played in enabling current modes of artmaking, spectatorship and theoretical discourse. Contemporary Art and Feminism carefully outlines the links between feminist theory and practice of the past four decades of contemporary art and offers a radical re-reading of the contemporary movement. Rather than focus on filling in the gaps of accepted histories by ‘adding’ the ‘missing’ female, queer, First Nations and women artists of colour, the authors seek to revise broader understandings of contemporary practice by providing case studies contextualised in a robust art historical and theoretical basis. Readers are encouraged to see where art ideas come from and evaluate past and present art strategies. What strategies, materials or tropes are less relevant in today’s networked, event-driven art economies? What strategies and themes should we keep hold of, or develop in new ways? This is a significant and innovative intervention that is ideal for students in courses on contemporary art within fine arts, visual studies, history of art, gender studies and queer studies.
