Book Interconnection Network Reliability Evaluation

Download or read book Interconnection Network Reliability Evaluation written by Neeraj Kumar Goyal and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-09-15 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Keeping in view the growth of the technological frontiers, there is always a need for the development of reliable, fault tolerant and cost- effective interconnection networks (INs) which are the critical metrics to achieve the goal of parallelism. The main objective of this book is to design new fault tolerant interconnection network layouts capable of path redundancy among dynamic failures. New INs designs are proposed and their observed results are found promising when compared with some of the earlier networks. The book also covers the reliability evaluation of various industrial network topologies considering multiple reliability performance parameters (2-TR, broadcast and ATR). Finally, the book also focuses on reliability evaluation and comparison of various topologies considering connectivity among multiple sources and multiple destinations (MSMT) nodes.

Book Providing Fault Tolerance in Interconnection Networks for PC Clusters

Download or read book Providing Fault Tolerance in Interconnection Networks for PC Clusters written by José Miguel Montañana Aliaga and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, clusters of PCs are considered a cost-effective alternative to large parallel computers. In these systems thousands of components are connected through high-performance interconnection networks. Among the high-performance network technologies available to build clusters, InfiniBand (IBA) has emerged as a new standard interconnect suitable for clusters. Indeed, has been adopted by many of the most powerful systems currently built (top500 list). As the number of nodes increases in these systems, the interconnection network grows accordingly. Along with the increase in components the probability of faults increases dramatically, and thus, fault tolerance in the system, in general, and in the interconnection network, in particular, becomes a necessity. Unfortunately, most of the fault-tolerant routing strategies proposed for massively parallel computers cannot be applied because routing and virtual channel transitions are deterministic in IBA, which prevent packets from avoiding the faults. This book focuses on methodologies for providing adequate levels of fault tolerance to PC clusters, specially tailored to IBA networks.

Book Asynchronous On Chip Networks and Fault Tolerant Techniques

Download or read book Asynchronous On Chip Networks and Fault Tolerant Techniques written by Wei Song and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-05-10 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asynchronous On-Chip Networks and Fault-Tolerant Techniques is the first comprehensive study of fault-tolerance and fault-caused deadlock effects in asynchronous on-chip networks, aiming to overcome these drawbacks and ensure greater reliability of applications. As a promising alternative to the widely used synchronous on-chip networks for multicore processors, asynchronous on-chip networks can be vulnerable to faults even if they can deliver the same performance with much lower energy and area compared with their synchronous counterparts – faults can not only corrupt data transmission but also cause a unique type of deadlock. By adopting a new redundant code along with a dynamic fault detection and recovery scheme, the authors demonstrate that asynchronous on-chip networks can be efficiently hardened to tolerate both transient and permanent faults and overcome fault-caused deadlocks. This book will serve as an essential guide for researchers and students studying interconnection networks, fault-tolerant computing, asynchronous system design, circuit design and on-chip networking, as well as for professionals interested in designing fault-tolerant and high-throughput asynchronous circuits.

Book Interconnection Networks

Download or read book Interconnection Networks written by J.-C. Bermond and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the articles in this book deal with static or point-to-pointInterconnection Networks. In particular, new constructions are proposed basedon different tools from discrete mathematics. Many new records have beenestablished in the table of the maximum number of vertices of graphs withmaximum degree &Dgr; and diameter D. Properties of thesenetworks (and of more classical ones) are analyzed in many of the otherpapers. About 40% of the articles deal with fault tolerance orvulnerability properties using either combinatorial tools or probabilisticones.

Book Distributed Computing for Signal Processing Modeling of Asynchronous Parallel Computation Appendix C Fault Tolerant Interconnection Networks and Image Processing Applications for the PASM Parallel Processing Systems

Download or read book Distributed Computing for Signal Processing Modeling of Asynchronous Parallel Computation Appendix C Fault Tolerant Interconnection Networks and Image Processing Applications for the PASM Parallel Processing Systems written by George B Adams (III.) and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for very high speed data processing coupled with falling hardware costs has made large-scale parallel and distributed computer systems both desirable and feasible. Two modes of parallel processing are single instruction stream-multiple data stream (SIMD) and multiple instruction stream - multiple data stream (MIMD). PASM, a partitionable SIMD/MIMD system, is a reconfigurable multimicroprocessor system being designed for image processing and pattern recognition. An important component of these systems is the interconnection network, the mechanism for communication among the computation nodes and memories. Assuring high reliability for such complex systems is a significant task. Thus, a crucial practical aspect of an interconnection network is fault tolerance. In answer to this need, the Extra Stage Cube (ESC), a fault-tolerant, multistage cube-type interconnection network, is defined. The fault tolerance of the ESC is explored for both single and multiple faults, routing tags are defined, and consideration is given to permuting data and partitioning the ESC in the presence of faults. The ESC is compared with other fault-tolerant multistage networks. Finally, reliability of the ESC and an enhanced version of it are investigated. Keywords: Theses.

Book Interconnection Network Reliability Evaluation

Download or read book Interconnection Network Reliability Evaluation written by Neeraj Kumar Goyal and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-10-28 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents novel and efficient tools, techniques and approaches for reliability evaluation, reliability analysis, and design of reliable communication networks using graph theoretic concepts. In recent years, human beings have become largely dependent on communication networks, such as computer communication networks, telecommunication networks, mobile switching networks etc., for their day-to-day activities. In today's world, humans and critical machines depend on these communication networks to work properly. Failure of these communication networks can result in situations where people may find themselves isolated, helpless and exposed to hazards. It is a fact that every component or system can fail and its failure probability increases with size and complexity. The main objective of this book is to devize approaches for reliability modeling and evaluation of such complex networks. Such evaluation helps to understand which network can give us better reliability by their design. New designs of fault-tolerant interconnection network layouts are proposed, which are capable of providing high reliability through path redundancy and fault tolerance through reduction of common elements in paths. This book covers the reliability evaluation of various network topologies considering multiple reliability performance parameters (two terminal reliability, broadcast reliability, all terminal reliability, and multiple sources to multiple destinations reliability).
