Book Composite Structures 2

Download or read book Composite Structures 2 written by I.H. Marshall and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers contained herein were presented at the Second International Conference on Composite Structures (ICCS/2) held at Paisley College of Technology, Paisley, Scotland, in September 1983. The Conference was organised and sponsored by Paisley College of Technology in association with the Scottish Development Agency and the National Engineering Laboratory. It forms a natural progression from the highly successful First International Conference on Composite Structures (lCCS/l) held at Paisley in September 1981. The last few decades have seen phenomenal advances in research and of composite materials with new and exciting structural development possibilities being unearthed on an almost daily basis. Composites have been rightly heralded as space-age materials of the future. However, along with the rather specialised aerospace applications a growing awareness of the wider potential of composites is also unmistakable. The extensive composite materials research programmes of the fifties and sixties are now yielding fruit in abundance, with composites being used in virtually every area of structural engineering from transportation to pressure vessels and so on. Although significant weight savings, paramount in transportation engineering, are possible, composites have gone far beyond being simply lighter than conventional materials. They offer real structural advantages with almost unbounded potential. The ability to tailor a particular matrix material to suit prevailing environmental conditions whilst maintaining adequate reinforcement to withstand applied loading is unquestionably an attractive proposition.

Book Nonlinear Analysis of Structures 1997

Download or read book Nonlinear Analysis of Structures 1997 written by Muthukrishnan Sathyamoorthy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Analysis of Structures presents a complete evaluation of the nonlinear static and dynamic behavior of beams, rods, plates, trusses, frames, mechanisms, stiffened structures, sandwich plates, and shells. These elements are important components in a wide variety of structures and vehicles such as spacecraft and missiles, underwater vessels and structures, and modern housing. Today's engineers and designers must understand these elements and their behavior when they are subjected to various types of loads. Coverage includes the various types of nonlinearities, stress-strain relations and the development of nonlinear governing equations derived from nonlinear elastic theory. This complete guide includes both mathematical treatment and real-world applications, with a wealth of problems and examples to support the text. Special topics include a useful and informative chapter on nonlinear analysis of composite structures, and another on recent developments in symbolic computation. Designed for both self-study and classroom instruction, Nonlinear Analysis of Structures is also an authoritative reference for practicing engineers and scientists. One of the world's leaders in the study of nonlinear structural analysis, Professor Sathyamoorthy has made significant research contributions to the field of nonlinear mechanics for twenty-seven years. His foremost contribution to date has been the development of a unique transverse shear deformation theory for plates undergoing large amplitude vibrations and the examination of multiple mode solutions for plates. In addition to his notable research, Professor Sathyamoorthy has also developed and taught courses in the field at universities in India, Canada, and the United States.

Book International Joint Conference SOCO 13 CISIS 13 ICEUTE 13

Download or read book International Joint Conference SOCO 13 CISIS 13 ICEUTE 13 written by Álvaro Herrero and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-13 with total page 761 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing contains accepted papers presented at SOCO 2013, CISIS 2013 and ICEUTE 2013, all conferences held in the beautiful and historic city of Salamanca (Spain), in September 2013. Soft computing represents a collection or set of computational techniques in machine learning, computer science and some engineering disciplines, which investigate, simulate, and analyze very complex issues and phenomena. After a through peer-review process, the 8th SOCO 2013 International Program Committee selected 40 papers which are published in these conference proceedings, and represents an acceptance rate of 41%. In this relevant edition a special emphasis was put on the organization of special sessions. Four special sessions were organized related to relevant topics as: Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Data Mining for Industrial and Environmental Applications, Soft Computing Methods in Bioinformatics, and Soft Computing Methods, Modelling and Simulation in Electrical Engineer. The aim of the 6th CISIS 2013 conference is to offer a meeting opportunity for academic and industry-related researchers belonging to the various, vast communities of Computational Intelligence, Information Security, and Data Mining. The need for intelligent, flexible behaviour by large, complex systems, especially in mission-critical domains, is intended to be the catalyst and the aggregation stimulus for the overall event. After a through peer-review process, the CISIS 2013 International Program Committee selected 23 papers which are published in these conference proceedings achieving an acceptance rate of 39%. In the case of 4th ICEUTE 2013, the International Program Committee selected 11 papers which are published in these conference proceedings. The selection of papers was extremely rigorous in order to maintain the high quality of the conference and we would like to thank the members of the Program Committees for their hard work in the reviewing process. This is a crucial process to the creation of a high standard conference and the SOCO, CISIS and ICEUTE conferences would not exist without their help.
