Book LANGAGE S ET TRADUCTION

Download or read book LANGAGE S ET TRADUCTION written by Mohammed Jadir and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2021-07-06 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Traduction et linguistique written by Yusuf Polat and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2020-03-05 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

  • ISBN : 9783540500568
  • Pages : 248 pages

Download or read book Attribute Grammars written by Pierre Deransart and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1988-08-10 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats the problem of formulating models in mathematical programming, and thereafter solving the resulting model. Particular emphasis is placed on the interaction between the two. The topic is viewed from different angles, namely linear programming (Walter Murray), integer programming (Ellis Johnson), network flows (John Mulvey), and stochastic programming (Roger J-B Wets). The book will be very useful for any mathematics programmer or operations researcher who works in the field of real-world modelling. The book is an important part of any university course in modelling, particularly in operations research, economics and business. The book also contains an article on the origins of mathematical programming (Alexander Rinnooy Kan). This is important reading for anyone interested in the history of the field.

Book Translation

Download or read book Translation written by Marianne Lederer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-08 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, the English version of La traduction aujourd'hui (Hachette 1994), describes the interpretive theory of translation developed at the Paris Ecole Supérieure d'Interprètes et de Traducteurs (ESIT) over the last 35 years. The theory identifies the mental and cognitive processes involved in both oral and written translation: understanding the text, deverbalizing its language, re-expressing sense. For the purposes of translation, languages are a means of transmitting sense, they are not to be translated as such. Although translation involves the use of correspondences, translators generally set up equivalence between text segments. The synecdochic nature of both languages and texts, a phenomenon discussed in the book, explains why translation is possible across language differences. The many practical problems faced by translators, the difference between translation exercises used as a language teaching tool and professional translation, translating into a foreign language, and machine translation as compared to human translation are also discussed.

Book Transmissibility and Cultural Transfer

Download or read book Transmissibility and Cultural Transfer written by Jennifer and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edited by Stephanie Schwerter and Jennifer K. Dick, Transmissibility and Cultural Transfer: Dimensions of Translation in the Humanities brings together monumental voices in the social sciences—such as Jean-René Ladmiral from Paris and Peter Caws from Washington DC—to begin to address the Humanities’ specific issues with and debt to translation. Calling for a re-examination of how translations are read, critiqued, and taught in Philosophy, History, Political Science, and Sociology departments, this book provides tools for reflection, bases for reconsideration of given translations, and historical observations on how thought has been shaped across national borders. The volume ends with four case studies—examples from auto-translation in postcolonial literature, cultural issues of translation in Chinese-language cinema, negotiating meaning between linguistically and culturally different audiences in the United States and Lebanon, to verbal-visual questions of translation in marketing to German and French clients. All in all, this book is a comprehensive, compact survey of the cultural and linguistic translation and transmission issues in the social sciences today. Transmissibility and Cultural Transfer: Dimensions of Translation in the Humanities is illuminating and informative.

Book Lexicography Terminology and Translation

Download or read book Lexicography Terminology and Translation written by Ingrid Meyer and published by University of Ottawa Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume in honour of Ingrid Meyer is a tribute to her work in the interrelated fields of lexicography, terminology and translation. One key thing shared by these fields is that they all deal with text. Accordingly, the essays in this collection are united by the fact that they too are all "text-based" in some way. In the majority of essays, electronic corpora serve as the textual basis for investigations. Chapters focusing on electronic corpora include a description of a tool that can be used to help build specialized corpora in a semi-automatic fashion; corpus-based investigations of terminological knowledge patterns, terminological implantation, lexicographic information and translation solutions; comparisons of corpora to conventional resources such as dictionaries; and analyses of corpus processing tools such as translation memory systems. In several essays, notably those dealing with historical or literary documents, the texts in question are specific manuscripts that have been studied with a view to learning more about lexicographic and translation practice. The volume is rounded out with a chapter on audiovisual translation that takes a non-conventional view of text, where "text" includes film. Published in English.

Book The Translator s Turn

Download or read book The Translator s Turn written by Douglas Robinson and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 1991 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite landmark works in translation studies such as George Steiner's After Babel and Eugene Nida's The Theory and Practice of Translation, most of what passes as con-temporary "theory" on the subject has been content to remain largely within the realm of the anecdotal. Not so Douglas Robinson's ambitious book, which, despite its author's protests to the contrary, makes a bid to displace (the deconstructive term is apposite here) a gamut of earlier cogitations on the subject, reaching all the way back to Cicero, Augustine, and Jerome. Robinson himself sums up the aim of his project in this way: "I want to displace the entire rhetoric and ideology of mainstream translation theory, which ... is medieval and ecclesiastical in origin, authoritarian in intent, and denaturing and mystificatory in effect." -- from http://www.jstor.org (Sep. 12, 2014).
