The species of this genus are all marine, and convolute; they are almost always transversely striated; they are generally oval, cylindrical, spire more or less projecting and obtuse; aperture elongated, often narrowed at its posterior part, widened and somewhat effuse at its base; folds of the columella varying from one to three: they are generally thick and obtuse. 1. T. testa crassa, ovali, alba, ventricosa, transversim striata; lineis longitudinalibus undatis, subrubris; spira conoidea; apertura oblonga; columella uniplicata. Shell thick, ovate, inflated, white, covered with transverse striae and longitudinal waving reddish lines, often divided into three portions in their length.
