Book Vacuum Ultraviolet Spectroscopy

Download or read book Vacuum Ultraviolet Spectroscopy written by James A. Samson and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2000-12-21 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Techniques of Vacuum Ultraviolet Spectroscopy was first published in 1967. In the three decades since, the techniques associated with vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy have been greatly expanded. Originally published as two volumes in the serial "Experimental Methods in the Physical Sciences," Vacuum Ultraviolet Spectroscopy combines in one paperback volume information on the many advances in vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) research. In addition, the book provides students and researchers with concise reviews of the important aspects of designing experiments in the VUV region. This is the only comprehensive treatise describing the use of synchrotron and other light sources for research, along with the new technologies in optical elements, multilayers, mirror coatings, soft x-ray zone plates, VUV detectors, interferometric spectrometers, and subjects such as spectromicroscopy, lithography, and photon-induced fluorescence. Vacuum Ultraviolet Spectroscopy is an ideal handbook both for the beginner and for the experienced researcher in any field requiring the use of VUV radiation. Key Features* Detailed review of synchrotron radiation sources including undulators and wigglers* Comprehensive outline of monochromator design* Concise review of optics theory for multilayers, spectrometers, and zone plates* Information about other important VUV sources such as laser produced plasmas and Electron Beam Ion Trap (EBIT) sources* Applications such as spectromicroscopy, lithography, and fluorescence

Book Some Aspects of Vacuum Ultraviolet Radiation Physics

Download or read book Some Aspects of Vacuum Ultraviolet Radiation Physics written by Nicole Damany and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some Aspects of Vacuum Ultraviolet Radiation Physics presents some data on the state of research in vacuum ultraviolet radiation in association with areas of physics. Organized into four parts, this book begins by elucidating the optical properties of solids in the vacuum ultraviolet region (v.u.v.), particularly the specific methods of determination of optical constants in v.u.v., the properties of metals, and those of ionic insulators. Part II deals with molecular spectroscopy, with emphasis on the spectra of diatomic and simple polyatomic molecules, paraffins, and condensed phases. Part III focuses on some aspects of emission spectroscopy in the v.u.v. in relation to laboratory plasmas. The last part describes the image formation by concave gratings, spectrophotometry, and diffusion by surfaces. This book will be very valuable to physicist and graduate students inclined to this field of interest.

Book Studies of Techniques for Generation of Vacuum Ultraviolet and Soft X ray Laser Radiation

Download or read book Studies of Techniques for Generation of Vacuum Ultraviolet and Soft X ray Laser Radiation written by Stanford University. Ginzton Laboratory and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes theoretical and experimental work on two types of laser induced collisional processes. These are the dipole-dipole process and the charge exchange process. Using two synchronously pumped mode-locked dye lasers, a dipole-dipole cross section of 4 x ten to the minus 14th power sq cm has been demonstrated in the Sr-Ca system. We also report theoretical progress in the areas of laser induced spin exchange collisions and collisionally induced Raman processes. Lasing and inversion on the Sr+ resonance line at 4078 angstrom is also described. This first demonstration of the inversion of an ion with respect to its ground state has important implications for the construction of short wavelength lasers.

Book Vacuum Ultraviolet Photoionization and Photodissociation of Molecules and Clusters

Download or read book Vacuum Ultraviolet Photoionization and Photodissociation of Molecules and Clusters written by Cheuk-Yiu Ng and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph reviews the recent progress in vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoionization and photodissociation processes. Photoionization, photoelectron, and fluorescence spectroscopic techniques have played an important role in revealing the photoionization and photodissociation dynamics of molecules in the vacuum ultraviolet region and in providing accurate energetic and spectroscopic information of ions as well as neutral molecules. The book represents the first detailed review of major experimental developments in the studies of single vacuum ultraviolet photon ionization and dissociation processes of gaseous molecules and clusters.
