Book Mediation in the Workplace

Download or read book Mediation in the Workplace written by Rebecca Jane Weinstein and published by Praeger. This book was released on 2001 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A workplace mediation program supplements or replaces institutional grievance processes in order to increase job satisfaction, boost productivity, reduce employee turnover, and decrease the chances of legal action. Weinstein, a social worker and a labor and employment lawyer, provides a powerful administrative, educational, and training tool for human resource professionals, administrators, peer and professional mediators, and students of mediation. Mediated resolutions to conflict in the workplace are designed to last because they seek to address underlying causes and they rely on the participation of the affected parties. Mediation with an impartial third party is more likely to result in a satisfying solution than are decisions imposed upon the parties from outside sources, whether employers or the legal system. Mediators work to strengthen relationships so that future conflicts can be prevented or minimized. This valuable guide to implementing formal mediation programs can be used by both beginning and experienced mediators in all types of organizations- in schools, social service agencies, government agencies, and private industry. Its practical application of mediation theory will benefit students and teachers of mediation, conflict resolution, business management, public administration, law, social work, counseling, and other related disciplines.

Book The Essential Guide to Workplace Mediation Conflict Resolution

Download or read book The Essential Guide to Workplace Mediation Conflict Resolution written by Nora Doherty and published by Kogan Page Publishers. This book was released on 2008 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Workplace mediation is becoming an increasingly popular dispute resolution method to settle interpersonal employee conflicts, including harassment and bullying complaints. There is a direct ratio between the quality of relationships across the workplace and long-term effectiveness and success. Mediation addresses complex relationship difficulties head-on so that working relationships can be restored. Fostering a philosophy of mediation as a culture and a "co-entrepreneurial" business model, Doherty and Guyler consider what mediation is, why it is necessary and how it works, including the main principles of operation and the 6-step structure of a mediation meeting. They analyze the reasons for conflict and suggest useful everyday communication skills to help defuse anger or aggression. Real case studies look at specific complaints of bullying, of sexual harassment and of racism, generational conflicts within family businesses and boardroom conflicts between chairmen and CEOs.

Book Being Relational

Download or read book Being Relational written by Louise Phipps Senft and published by Health Communications, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-09 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our world is a crowded and hyper-connected place and it is becoming more crowded and hyper-connected every day. The challenges of our world call us to evolve as a species at a pace that has never been necessary before - not in our physical attributes, not in our emotional capacities, not in our mental capabilities, and arguably not even in our use of technology to master the environment and harness its resources. We are called to evolve in the ways that we interact with each other as fellow inhabitants of Earth. Being Relational details seven ways of being in relation to others that capture the heart and soul of all that is self-help. It is grounded in method, and is supported by relational conflict theory and brain science findings. The seven ways of being that promote quality face to face interactions and positive transformation are rooted in teachings from many sources – conflict resolution, negotiation ethics, neuroscience, multiple faith traditions and numerous popular self-help and business books. It is a unique collection of teachings that focus on what happens in human interaction. This unique approach is inspired by thousands of broken relationships that the Senfts have mediated and coached back to strength and connectedness over the last two decades..

Book How Parties Experience Mediation

Download or read book How Parties Experience Mediation written by Timea Tallodi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-22 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an unprecedented qualitative research study on relational changes in mediation with a truly interdisciplinary outset, drawing on the literature on psychology, alternative dispute resolution and business. Mediation's potential to induce changes in parties' relationships as an advantage of the process is commonly mentioned in the literature. However, despite its being a key to reconciliation, relational changes in mediation has not yet been a topic of foundational and fine-grained qualitative enquiry. As the first study in the literature, this research uses in-depth interviews with mediation parties and the qualitative methodology of interpretative phenomenological analysis in order to explore participants' lived experiences. The phenomenological stance ensures a particularly rich data set and a nuanced interpretative analysis. This pioneering piece of research seeks to enter mediation parties' true experiences as closely as possible, moving beyond pre-existing theoretical, quantitative and large-scale qualitative explorations. The themes are discussed in the context of theory, research and practice. Therefore, this book advances knowledge about mediation both in theoretical and practical terms. Innovative conclusions and recommendations are provided for developing mediation practice, mediation training programmes, and further research.
