Book The General Chapter in a Religious Institute

Download or read book The General Chapter in a Religious Institute written by Elizabeth M. Cotter and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2008 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the historical antecedents of the concept of general chapter, the supreme authority in an institute of consecrated life. This provides the basis for an examination of the contemporary understanding of the nature of its power and authority, as portrayed in the 1983 Code of Canon Law. The general chapter is analysed in terms of its juridic status, collegial nature, participative character and representative function as well as its dynamic aspects and faith dimension. The author applies the findings to one institute of consecrated life, Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary Loreto Branch. This application provides an example of the challenges inherent in working participatively and collaboratively within a hierarchical structure. Because consecrated life has an inalienable ecclesial dimension, understanding authority and power and their exercise in institutes of consecrated life has relevance for understanding authority and its exercise in other organs of authority at all levels in the church.

Book Fundamental Theology of the Priesthood A

Download or read book Fundamental Theology of the Priesthood A written by Cardinal Ouellet, Marc and published by Paulist Press. This book was released on with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Symposium for a Fundamental Theology of the Priesthood, held at the Vatican from February 17 to 19, 2022, inaugurated a new phase of theological and pastoral reflection in the context of contemporary questions regarding the ministry of priests and the priesthood of the baptized. The deepening of the relationship between the two participations—baptismal and ministerial—in the one priesthood of Christ is fundamental for renewing the mission of the Church in the spirit of openness and dialogue of the Second Vatican Council. This perspective is also pertinent for the promotion and communication of all vocations, especially that of women, whose charisms are yet to be fully recognized and integrated in their rightful place within the life of the Church. Finally, and no less important, this reflection offers synodal practice a solid theological foundation for making the participation of the faithful dynamic, which must not only correct the limitations and defects of the exercise of the ordained ministry, but also actively and permanently exercise the gifts and charisms that the Holy Spirit has poured out on all baptized people.

  • Pages : 294 pages

Download or read book Canon Law written by Libero Gerosa and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2002 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the main demands of Vatican II Council with respect to Canon Law was to always focus on the mystery of the Church. This clear and distinct position led to a renewal of the methodology applied to the discipline of Canon Law in almost all post-conciliar "schools". The canonistic demand however, similarly to change the didactic tools, the teaching material, in this new context has proved to be less significant. Knowing the importance and the urgency of this initiative has been a strong source of motivation to the author. The leading and inspiring idea behind this initiative is the conviction that the formal principles of Canon Law, both as the inner structure of the Church community as well as a proper scientific method, are the three fundamental elements of the constitution of the Church: the Word, the Sacrament and Charisma.

Book A Service Beyond All Recompense

Download or read book A Service Beyond All Recompense written by Kurt Martens and published by Catholic University of America. This book was released on 2018 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Monsignor Thomas J. Green, professor at the School of Canon Law at The Catholic University of America, approached his seventy-fifth birthday and the fiftieth anniversary of his priestly ordination, his colleagues planned on offering him a fitting tribute in the form of a festschrift. Six people with different backgrounds, but all related to Msgr. Green on one way or another, have written a laudatio – a short congratulatory letter – in honor of Monsignor Green. No less than fifteen contributions on various topics by colleagues, canon law scholars, clearly relate and reflect upon the honoree's scholarly contributions to canon law. The topics are extremely varied, and illustrate how Monsignor Green has been or is active in nearly every area of canon law. Virtually every book of the Code of Canon Law is covered, if not directly, at least indirectly. While the book is a tribute to an eminent professor, the various scholarly contributions are unique pieces of scholarship. The authors of the laudatio are: John Garvey (President, The Catholic University of America); Andrew Abela (Provost, The Catholic University of America); Rev. Msgr. J. Brian Bransfield (General Secretary of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops); Rev. Msgr. Ronny E. Jenkins (Dean, School of Canon Law, The Catholic University of America); Rev. Msgr. J. James Cuneo (Diocese of Bridgeport) and Sister Sharon Euart, RSM (Executive Director, Resource Center for Religious Institutes, Silver Spring, MD).

Book The Charismatic Structure of the Church

Download or read book The Charismatic Structure of the Church written by Michael McGuckian S.J. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-04-23 with total page 803 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a thorough analysis and interpretation of chapters 5 and 6 of Lumen gentium. It begins with ‘The Long Background,’ the story of the religious life from the beginning, focussing on the tension between the Religious and the Secular clergy that became the dominant source of tension in the debate over these two chapters at the Council. There were irresolvable differences between the two groups at the Council and the documents had to leave them unsettled. The book sets out to solve the problems on the universal call to holiness, the theology of the religious life, and the charismatic structure of the Church, which refers to the role of the Bishops and the Secular Clergy in the pursuit of holiness in the Church. The answers came as complete surprise to the author and propose novel approaches to all three issues.

Book Childhood in African Literature

Download or read book Childhood in African Literature written by Eldred D. Jones and published by Africa World Press. This book was released on 1998 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "African authors have consistently returned to childhood to find their personal as well as their racial roots. Far from being merely nostalgic yearnings for a lost paradise, many of the treatments of childhood as shown in articles in this issue have exposed a grim reality of cruelty, harshness, parental (particularly paternal) egocentrism and extraordinary bruisings of the vulnerable child psyche. Camara Laye may have portrayed a paradise state but Yvonne Vera has treated one of the cruelest features of childhood anywhere. African authors generally have been sternly responsible in their portrayal of childhood." -- Publisher's description
