Download or read book La responsabilit sociale delle imprese un percorso verso lo sviluppo sostenibile written by Federica Balluchi and published by G Giappichelli Editore. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Populism and Accountability

Download or read book Populism and Accountability written by Antonio Maria Baggio and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-28 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes into consideration the development of different forms of populism in various countries with democratic political systems over the past two decades. Despite the diversity existing between current populisms, common elements have emerged: the tendency to diminish the role of political representation, the centrality of the "charismatic leader," the nationalistic idealization of "people" that undermine international agreements. How do these phenomena affect the instruments, rules, and culture of democracy? Why does populism receive strong acclaim? How can leaders respond to the real needs that can be at the basis of populisms without abandoning democratic principles? Using an interdisciplinary approach which emphasizes accountability and responsibility, this book addresses these and other issues facing current and future corporate leaders. The chapters offer suggestions on how to choose between major worthy causes, how to effectively measure the outcomes of social responsible action, and how to navigate the challenges of accountability. Providing practical tools to combat the root of populism in business and community, this book is intended for practitioners, researchers, and students of business and management, politics, and other related disciplines such as public administration, social science, and the humanities.

Book The Ethics of Economic Responsibility

Download or read book The Ethics of Economic Responsibility written by Ralf Lüfter and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-12-09 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ethics of Economic Responsibility raises fundamental ethical questions related to the conceptualization of economic responsibility, that is: the imperative to fulfil certain economic obligations. It builds on a basic characterization of the question of ethics in order to introduce responsibility as a constitutive element for a new determination of economic knowledge. Drawing on the metaphysical tradition of philosophy, the book explores the distinction between "operability-based-responsibility" and "end-in-itself-based responsibility" and also considers what is tentatively called "being-related responsibility". By presenting these arguments about the notion of economic responsibility, the book contributes to the growing calls for ethical questions to not be merely complementary to the ongoing discourse of economic sciences, but rather to sit at its core, in such a way as to restore the intrinsic ethical dimension of economics itself. The book marks a significant contribution to the literature on the philosophy of economics, applied ethics more broadly, and the critical discourse concerning mainstream economics.

Book Digital Economy Sustainability and International Economic Law

Download or read book Digital Economy Sustainability and International Economic Law written by Lei Zhang and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2023-04-17 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume reviews issues that address the interconnection between digital economy, sustainability and international economic law. It covers a range of topics, including renewables subsidies, AI and corporate governance, digital currency, dispute resolution and new developments in trade law. The selection of chapters intends to illustrate how the digital economic, sustainable development goals and arrangements could influence and potentially shape international economic law, and how they are intertwined in an increasingly connected world. However, as the concepts of digital economy and sustainable development integrate unevenly into different fields of law, the selection focuses on some of the most visible influences in corporate and international trade law in Asia. The chapters in this volume are written by eminent authorities who are devoted to the emerging multidisciplinary fields of international economic law. Contributions include structured sections with a concluding summary and reference list for the benefit of a broad range of readers. This is a timely reference for legal scholars, practitioners and law students seeking updated and critical information from the perspective of an increasingly digital, and sustainability-focused global trade economy.

Book Corporate Social Responsibility Accountability and Governance

Download or read book Corporate Social Responsibility Accountability and Governance written by Istemi Demirag and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The "business case" for corporate social responsibility, which suggests that socially and environmentally aware companies can expect to reap financial rewards, is seemingly gaining widespread acceptance within the business community. This is particularly apparent in the ever-increasing number of prominent companies parading their social, ethical and environmental credentials by producing paper- or web-based social and environmental, or sustainability, reports. In so doing, reporting companies claim, they are demonstrating a clear commitment to transparency and accountability to their key stakeholder groups. However, in the prevailing voluntaristic, business-case-centred climate within which such initiatives are taking place, little thought appears to have gone into the question of how stakeholders, other than the capital provider group, can actually use corporate disclosures offered in order to hold management accountable for the social and environmental consequences of their actions. While much corporate rhetoric abounds concerning notions of stakeholder dialogue and engagement, rigorous analysis of the governance implications of their claimed commitment to the principles of corporate social responsibility is largely conspicuous by its absence. Corporate Social Responsibility, Accountability and Governance seeks to explore this "missing link" between CSR (and associated reporting initiatives) and governance mechanisms that are capable of embracing true stakeholder accountability. A wide range of case studies, drawing on experiences of both public- and private-sector initiatives in Europe, the United States, Canada, South America and Asia, offer insightful analysis of the complex relationships between the state, the market and civil society in the development of CSR, accountability and sustainable development. The book employs a multidisciplinary perspective in order to analyse the political, social, economic, technological, legal and organisational shaping of CSR. The complexities underpinning the concept are thereby clearly drawn out and the gross oversimplifications inherent in the prevailing consultancy-driven, business-case literature painfully exposed. Above all, the book offers a sound, practically and theoretically informed contribution to public policy debate and reflects and builds on urgent calls from public- and private-sector policy-makers as well as academics to develop better governance and accountability frameworks for business to deal with the imperatives of social responsibility, sustainable development and ethics. This book is divided into five parts. In Part 1, the complex concepts of responsibility, accountability and governance are discussed, and in particular the presumed relationships between the state, the market and civil society in improving accountability and governance are explored and critiqued. Part 2 consists of chapters relating to corporate social responsibility and stakeholder theory. Part 3 is concerned with empirical studies covering governance structures, networking and corporate social responsibility. Part 4 deals with corporate governance and its implications for regulators and civil society. Part 5 discusses multinational companies and how they impact on national governance regimes. Finally, a summary is provided with emerging international patterns of accountability and governance structures. Corporate Social Responsibility, Accountability and Governance will be essential reading for public and private policy-makers and practitioners and academics interested in how CSR can become more than a soundbite, and rather a substantial force for better global corporate governance and accountability.

Download or read book Responsabilit sociale d impresa e riflessi sulla governance e sui processi di rendicontazione e Book written by NACITI VALERIA and published by G Giappichelli Editore. This book was released on 2022-04-20 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
