Le présent ouvrage, issu d'un colloque international organisé à l'Université Jean Moulin — Lyon 3 les 19 et 20 septembre 2014 par le Groupe européen de recherche sur la responsabilité civile et l'assurance (GRERCA) avec le concours de l'équipe de droit privé de Lyon 3, dresse pour la première fois un état des lieux mettant en évidence les ressemblances et les divergences en la matière entre les principaux droits nationaux des pays d'Europe. L'originalité de l'entreprise tient par ailleurs à ce que, en plus de livrer une étude profession par profession, le parti a été pris de présenter de manière synthétique les différentes questions gravitant autour de la responsabilité. Sont ainsi étudiés quatre thèmes, à savoir la nature de la responsabilité liée aux activités juridiques, le devoir de conseil et les autres obligations, les préjudices réparables et les mécanismes de garantie de la dette de responsabilité liée aux activités juridiques. La responsabilité des magistrats a fait l'objet d'un traitement différencié compte tenu du particularisme de cette profession à laquelle s'ajoutent de plus courtes études sur celle des experts, avocats et notaires.
