Book Italian Horror Film Directors

Download or read book Italian Horror Film Directors written by Louis Paul and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-06-08 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no cinema with such effect as that of the hallucinatory Italian horror film. From Riccardo Freda's I Vampiri in 1956 to Il Cartaio in 2004, this work recounts the origins of the genre, celebrates at length ten of its auteurs, and discusses the noteworthy films of many others associated with the genre. The directors discussed in detail are Dario Argento, Lamberto Bava, Mario Bava, Ruggero Deodato, Lucio Fulci, Umberto Lenzi, Antonio Margheriti, Aristide Massaccesi, Bruno Mattei, and Michele Soavi. Each chapter includes a biography, a detailed career account, discussion of influences both literary and cinematic, commentary on the films, with plots and production details, and an exhaustive filmography. A second section contains short discussions and selected filmographies of other important horror directors. The work concludes with a chapter on the future of Italian horror and an appendix of important horror films by directors other than the 50 profiled. Stills, posters, and behind-the-scenes shots illustrate the book.

This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Mavericks of Italian Cinema

Download or read book Mavericks of Italian Cinema written by Roberto Curti and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2018-05-21 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The history of Italian cinema includes, in addition to the renowned auteurs, a number of peculiar and lesser-known filmmakers. While their artistry was often plagued with production setbacks, their works--influenced by poetry, playwriting, advertising, literature, comics and a nonconformist, sometimes antagonistic attitude--were original and thought provoking. Drawing from official papers and original scripts, this book includes much previously unpublished information on the works and lives of post-World War II filmmakers Pier Carpi, Alberto Cavallone, Riccardo Ghione, Giulio Questi, Brunello Rondi, Paolo Spinola, Augusto Tretti and Nello Vegezzi.

Book The Routledge Companion to Contemporary European Theatre and Performance

Download or read book The Routledge Companion to Contemporary European Theatre and Performance written by Ralf Remshardt and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-08-24 with total page 978 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a comprehensive overview of contemporary European theatre and performance as it enters the third decade of the twenty-first century. It combines critical discussions of key concepts, practitioners, and trends within theatre-making, both in particular countries and across borders, that are shaping European stage practice. With the geography, geopolitics, and cultural politics of Europe more unsettled than at any point in recent memory, this book’s combination of national and thematic coverage offers a balanced understanding of the continent’s theatre and performance cultures. Employing a range of methodologies and critical approaches across its three parts and ninety-four chapters, this book’s first part contains a comprehensive listing of European nations, the second part charts responses to thematic complexes that define current European performance, and the third section gathers a series of case studies that explore the contribution of some of Europe’s foremost theatre makers. Rather than rehearsing rote knowledge, this is a collection of carefully curated, interpretive accounts from an international roster of scholars and practitioners. The Routledge Companion to Contemporary European Theatre and Performance gives undergraduate and graduate students as well as researchers and practitioners an indispensable reference resource that can be used broadly across curricula.

Book L ultima estate di Joan e altri racconti

Download or read book L ultima estate di Joan e altri racconti written by Marco Goi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-03-22 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
