'La couverture sanitaire universelle pour un développement durable inclusif' synthétise les expériences de 11 pays †“ Bangladesh, Brésil, Éthiopie, France, Ghana, Indonésie, Japon, Pérou, Thaïlande, Turquie et Vietnam †“ dans la mise en œuvre de politiques et de stratégies d’atteinte et de maintien de la CSU. Tous ces pays se sont engagés envers l’atteinte de la CSU, considérée comme une aspiration nationale clé, mais ont adopté à cet effet des approches distinctes. L’ouvrage examine les politiques de CSU de chaque pays à partir de 3 thèmes communs : (1) l’économie politique et le processus politique d’adoption, d’atteinte et de maintien de la CSU; (2) les politiques financières d’amélioration de la couverture sanitaire; et (3) les ressources humaines en santé au service des politiques d’atteinte de la CSU. Les constats tirés de ces études pays sont une source d’enseignements auxquels peuvent faire référence les pays qui aspirent à l’adoption, à l’atteinte et au maintien de la CSU. Même si la voie vers la CSU reste spécifique à chaque pays, tous peuvent profiter des expériences des autres en apprenant des différentes approches et en évitant les risques potentiels.

Book excerpt: This book states that whilst academic research has long been grounded on the idea of western or scientific epistemologies, this often does not capture the uniqueness of Indigenous contexts, and particularly as it relates to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs were announced in 2015, accompanied by 17 goals and 169 targets. These goals are the means through which Agenda 2030 for sustainable development is to be pursued and realised over the next 15 years, and the contributions of Indigenous peoples are essential to achieving these goals. Indigenous peoples can be found in practically every region of the world, living on ancestral homelands in major cities, rainforests, mountain regions, desert plains, the arctic, and small Pacific Islands. Their languages, knowledges, and values are rooted in the landscapes and natural resources within their territories. However, many Indigenous peoples are now minorities within their homelands and globally, and there is a dearth of research based on Indigenous epistemologies and methodologies. Furthermore, academic research on Indigenous peoples is typically based on western lenses. Thus, the paucity of Indigenous methodologies within mainstream research discourses present challenges for implementing practical research designs and interpretations that can address epistemological distinctiveness within Indigenous communities. There is therefore the need to articulate, as well as bring to the nexus of research aimed at fostering sustainable development, a decolonising perspective in research design and practice. This is what this book wants to achieve. The contributions critically reflect on Indigenous approaches to research design and implementation, towards achieving the sustainable development goals, as well as the associated challenges and opportunities. The contributions also advanced knowledge, theory, and practice of Indigenous methodologies for sustainable development.

It considers agricultural landscape as a system of tangible and intangible heritage components and relationships, to be retained, enhanced and transmit, in a process of inevitable but appropriate dynamic conservation and management over time (ICOMOS-IFLA Principles 2017). This book can benefit the collaboration among local players – such as farmers, citizens, associations, public institutions, stakeholders – in conserving and enhancing agrarian heritage and reinforcing the identity of places and people. It can strengthen collective action and generate positive effects on good large and local -scale management. The first part has a methodological character in order to enlighten the integrated approach between cultural heritage and urban agriculture. The second part exemplifies cases where the heritage has been recognised but not yet translated into concrete action. The third Part discloses ongoing process of co-construction, where policies have recognized the cultural, environmental and social meaning of urban agriculture as heritage.
