Book Human Dignity and Managerial Responsibility

Download or read book Human Dignity and Managerial Responsibility written by Ana Maria Davila Gomez and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The issue of human rights, in the context of corporate social responsibility, is normally taken to relate to concern about exploitation in the supply chain - child labour, slavery in developing countries, and similar evils; but of course, human rights are engaged in relation to the treatment of employees in any work situation. Indeed, as Human Dignity and Managerial Responsibility illustrates, the handling of employees is increasingly recognised as an important ingredient of sustainable enterprise - evidence shows that ethical and socially responsible behaviour is increasingly and successfully being engaged in many large corporations. Much has been written about the responsibilities of managers. Since employees are claimed by all organisations to be among their most important stakeholders it is ironic that research finds that the behaviour of many managers towards employees is often inappropriate. The editors and contributors of Human Dignity and Managerial Responsibility argue that there is a clear connection between maintaining the dignity of the workforce and corporate performance and sustainability. Their multiple perspectives on the workplace examine the position of the employee as a stakeholder, together with issues about managing employees in relation to social responsibility and sustainability. They discuss diversity in the broadest sense, filling a gap in the research-related literature essential to a more rounded understanding of CSR. Human Dignity and Managerial Responsibility will appeal to a wide audience amongst those with an academic or professional interest in CSR, sustainability, governance and stakeholder management, human rights, diversity, human resource management, and organisational development.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Canadian advocacy has evolved over the past few decades. A core function of the nonprofit sector, advocacy endures in an unsympathetic neoliberal landscape – one dominated by a rise in government surveillance, ongoing government funding cuts, and confusion over what activities are permissible. Exploring the unpredictable and fluid nature of public policy advocacy work carried out by nonprofit organizations across Canada, The Shifting Terrain sheds light on the strictures and opportunities of this crucial aspect of the voluntary sector. Authors from diverse backgrounds, including academics, activists, practitioners, and legal experts, illustrate what the shifting course of advocacy means in philosophical, theoretical, political, and practical terms. Offering a critique of advocacy practices directed at the nonprofit–provincial/territorial government interface and beyond, this anthology outlines regulatory changes made by the Canada Revenue Agency, exposes the conflicted internal structures and processes of advocacy work, challenges "permissible advocacy activities," presents provocative thinking about alternative ways forward, and proposes recommendations for improvement. A comparative historical study and a contemporary examination, The Shifting Terrain invites readers to contemplate the implications of advocacy for public participation, the shaping of public policy, and Canadian democracy.

Book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN

Download or read book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN written by David HouŽto and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book L int gration Du Droit International Et Communautaire Dans L ordre Juridique National

Download or read book L int gration Du Droit International Et Communautaire Dans L ordre Juridique National written by Pierre Michel Eisemann and published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers. This book was released on 1996-06-26 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Just how International and European Community Law is being integrated into domestic legal systems is as yet not too well known. To gain a clear overview of this grey area requires more than knowing about the various constitutional rules. What is also needed is a study of little-known administrative practices and the attitudes of the national courts, where case-law is often as complex as it is diverse. When all these elements are taken into account, the general picture that emerges is a much more subtle one, transcending the classical positions based on the theories of monism and dualism. To grasp this reality and go beyond preconceived ideas, it seemed indispensable to make a thorough analysis of national practices. To this end, the International Law Centre of the University of Paris XIII (Cedin Paris XIII) took the initiative, in 1990, of setting up a network of European international lawyers to work on the theme International norms and legal barriers'. This book presents the outcome of the network's programme. The research was organized on the basis of a single questionnaire which provided the outline of a common workplan, to which each of the contributors has adhered. Detailed comparisons of national practices can now be made, relating in particular to international treaties, acts of international organisations and of the European Communities, and to unwritten international law. This is the first time that such a comprehensive and detailed survey has been made of all thirteen countries. Reading the national reports one after the other provides complete information on domestic practices; reading them crosswise gives a direct comparison between the different countries on specificissues.

Book Annuaire Europ en Vol Xii European Yearbook

Download or read book Annuaire Europ en Vol Xii European Yearbook written by B. Landheer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-12-14 with total page 898 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term EUROVISION, invented-by pure chance-only a few years ago, is now familiar to millions. What the name covers is the subject of this paper. EUROVISION is not the name of an organisation or company, but rather an emblem. It signifies international co-operation in television programme exchanges within the framework of the European Broad casting Union - or rather the most spectacular element of that Co-oper ation. It appears conspicuously at the head of programmes relayed by several countries. To understand the full extent of this co-operation, it is best to look at the wider field covered by the structure and working of the European Broadcasting Union itself. The European Broadcasting Union is a professional association, grouping Western European radio-television organisations as active members, with organisations in other continents as associate members. It is financed by contributions from its members. Questions of principle, management and financial responsibility come under the Administrative Council or the General Assembly (from which it is elected) - in which the Directors-General of the several organisations are represented. The present Chairman is M. RoDIN6 of Italy who succeeded M. RYDBECK of Sweden. Four Committees are responsible for preparatory studies and routine problems: the Legal, the Technical, the Programme and the Sound Broadcasting Committees, which group the specialist Service Directors.
