En France, le taux de femme touché par la précarité augmente chaque année. La santé des femmes est un enjeu de santé publique, notamment celle des femmes en situation de précarité. Nous nous intéressons sur la manière dont les femmes en situation de précarité sont pris en charge par les sages-femmes libérales. En 2021, une étude observationnelle quantitative à visée descriptive a été réalisé dans l'ex-Champagne-Ardenne grâce à un questionnaire diffusé en ligne auprès de sages-femmes libérales exerçant un suivi gynécologique de prévention. En moyenne, à l'année, les sages-femmes libérales voient dans leur cabinet, 20% de femmes en situation de précarité. Nous avons pu constater que les sages-femmes libérales ont une méconnaissance sur la notion de précarité et sur les aides proposées par l'État. La majorité d'entre-elles (55,26%) ne se sentent pas assez compétente pour orienter au mieux ces femmes. De plus, la moitié des sages-femmes libérales ressentent une difficulté à prendre en charge ces femmes. Du point de vue gynécologique, les sages-femmes de l'étude arrivent à sensibiliser correctement ces femmes. En Champagne-Ardenne, la majorité des sages-femmes libérales (68,42%) arrivent à entretenir un suivi régulier avec les femmes en situation de précarité. Cependant, afin d'améliorer le suivi gynécologique de ces femmes, les sages-femmes libérales souhaitent être formées davantage à la prise en charge des femmes précaires et de disposer d'un organigramme sur les aides et les structures pour les orienter.

Book excerpt: La loi du 21 juillet 2009 Hôpital Patients Santé Territoires (HPST) a donné des droits mais aussi les compétences nécessaires aux sages-femmes pour prescrire des moyens de contraception aux femmes et pour réaliser des consultations de gynécologie de prévention. Ces compétences sont validées sous la réserve que la sage-femme adresse la femme à un médecin en cas de pathologie. Nous avons réalisé une étude à l’aide d’un questionnaire destiné aux femmes. Ces questionnaires ont été mise en ligne sur différents forums afin d’évaluer leur connaissance sur les compétences des sages-femmes mais également leur satisfaction et attente en matière de suivi gynécologique. Il en est alors ressorti que les connaissances des femmes en ce qui concernent les compétences des sages-femmes sont incomplètes ; en effet elles sont peu à ne pas connaître nos nouvelles responsabilités en matière de suivi gynécologique. A contrario, elles sont volontaires pour consulter une sage-femme et semble montrer de l’importance pour ces consultations de prévention. Enfin, les femmes paraissent en général satisfaites de leur suivi gynécologique. Nous avons, ainsi, démontré une réelle demande de la part des femmes pour un suivi gynécologique par une sage-femme.

Using an original survey of a New York City labor population and multiple national data sources, author Christina M. Greer explores the political significance of ethnicity for new immigrant and native-born blacks. Black Ethnics concludes that racial and ethnic identities affect the ways in which black ethnic groups conceptualize their possibilities for advancement and placement within the American polity. The ethnic and racial dual identity for blacks leads to significant distinctions in political behavior, feelings of incorporation, and policy choices in ways not previously theorized. The steady immigration of black populations from Africa and the Caribbean over the past few decades has fundamentally changed the racial, ethnic, and political landscape in the U.S. An important question for social scientists is how these 'new' blacks will behave politically in the US. Should we expect new black immigrants to orient themselves to politics in the same manner as native Blacks? Will the different histories of the new immigrants and native-born blacks lead to different political orientations and behavior, and perhaps to political tensions and conflict among black ethnic groups residing in America? And to what extent will this new population fracture the black coalition inside of the Democratic party? With increases in immigration of black ethnic populations in the U.S., the political, social, and economic integration processes of black immigrants does not completely echo that of native-born American blacks. The emergent complexity of black intra-racial identity and negotiations within the American polity raise new questions about black political incorporation, assimilation, acceptance, and fulfillment of the American Dream. By comparing Afro-Caribbean and African groups to native-born blacks, this book develops a more nuanced and accurate understanding of the 'new black America' in the twenty-first century. Lastly, Black Ethnics explores how foreign-born blacks create new ways of defining and understanding black politics and coalitions in the post-Civil Rights era.

Georges Minois paints a vast fresco, starting with the first old man to relate his own story—an Egyptian scribe some 4500 years ago—and ending with the deaths of Elizabeth I and Henry IV in the sixteenth century. Tracing the changing conceptions of the nature, value, and burden of the old, Minois argues that western history during this period is marked by great fluctuation in the social and political role of the aged. Minois shows how, in ancient Greece, the cult of youth and beauty on the one hand, and the reverence for the figure of the Homeric sage, on the other, created an ambivalent attitude toward the aged.
