Ha recibido diferentes reconocimientos por su labor en el deporte y en el área académica, entre los que se destacan: Reconocimiento de la rectoría de la UASD por su excelencia Académica en el año1999, Reconocimiento de Oficina de Personal Académico de la UASD por excelencia académica y labor docente en el año 2003, Reconocimiento del Honorable Consejo Universitario dela UASD Por su trabajo como Director General de los X Juegos Deportivos Universitarios Centroamericanos y del Caribe, reconocimiento de la rectoría de la gestión 2002-2005 por sus valiosos aportes a la institución como Director de la Escuela de Educación Física y deportes de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. Las poesías las he agrupado por el tipo de sentimiento que las motivó, o los momentos personales, y estados de ánimo, que las provocaron. En cada grupo aparecen en el orden temporal en que fueron escritas. Momentos de "Imposibles" hay siempre en la vida de cualquiera: deseos que son irrealizables por una u otra circunstancia, y de muy variados tipos. Los Momentos de "Ensueños" reflejan las ilusiones de mi etapa adolescente. "Ansiedades" están ligadas a algún tipo de angustia, llevaderas unas, asfixiantes otras. "Añoranzas" se producen al recordar momentos que dieron felicidad. Momentos de "Familia" se corresponden con recuerdos familiares. "Reflexiones" resultan de los momentos en que hacemos un poco de filosofía personal. "Variedades" son poesías circunstanciales que no encajan en los grupos anteriores. "Dicha", al ver la que tengo en mi recta final y en lo que está por venir.

English has always been a huge struggle for him, though he desperately wanted to learn. It at times would leave him frustrated from the defied opportunities from his inability to communicate and adapt into the language. That was then; now a proud American citizen celebrating his fifty-fifth year in the United States, he is a renowned poet with trophies, medals, and merits awarded to him for his work, his passion, and his art. Recognized by the International Society of Poets in Owings Mills, Maryland, “A Flight in the Night” was published back in 2002 by the International Library of Poetry. He has been writing in English now for twenty-five years. With over a hundred poems written, half of them reside in Spanish, and the other half in English. His work is not only a milestone but an inspiration of the heart that proves yet that nothing can stand in the way of his love for poetry.

The images of boats of all sizes, in various conditions, filled with Cubans of all colors and ages, triggered a media storm. Fleeing Cuba’s repressive government, many homosexual men and women arrived in the United States only to face further obstacles. Deemed “undesirables” by the U.S. media, the Cuban state, and Cuban Americans already living in Miami, these new entrants marked a turning point in Miami’s Cuban American and gay histories. In Oye Loca, Susana Peña investigates a moment of cultural collision. Drawing from first-person stories of Cuban Americans as well as government documents and cultural texts from both the United States and Cuba, Peña reveals how these discussions both sensationalized and silenced the gay presence, giving way to a Cuban American gay culture. Through an examination of the diverse lives of Cuban and Cuban American gay men, we learn that Miami’s gay culture was far from homogeneous. By way of in-depth interviews, participant observation, and archival analysis, Peña shows that the men who crowded into small apartments together, bleached their hair with peroxide, wore housedresses in the street, and endured ruthless insults challenged what it meant to be Cuban in Miami. Making a critical incision through the study of heteronormativity, homosexualities, and racialization, ultimately Oye Loca illustrates how a single historical event helped shape the formation of an entire ethnic and sexual landscape.
