Download or read book Cervantes la locura y la pluralidad de discursos written by Vladimiro Rivas Iturralde and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. ABSTRACT: "Cervantes had a great fascination for madness. This essay shows the communication vessels between his Don Quixote and Erasmus' Praise of Folly. It suggests this madness to have been used as a mask for the Inquisition's censorship, but also as a literary document that reveals the sense of human existence. There's a tracing of the evolution of Don Quixote's madness, whose monomaniacal literary discourse is contrasted to the immense richness, vitality and variety of the discourses that conform the world of the novel. PALABRAS CLAVE: Cervantes, Erasmo, Don Quijote, Sancho, locura, realidad, censura, Inquisición, discurso, literatura, lectura. KEYWORDS: Cervantes, Erasmus, Don Quixote, Sancho, madness, reality, censorship, Inquisition, discourse, literature, reading."

Book Law and History in Cervantes Don Quixote

Download or read book Law and History in Cervantes Don Quixote written by Susan Byrne and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Law and History in Cervantes' Don Quixote is a deep consideration of the intellectual environment that gave rise to Cervantes' seminal work. Susan Byrne demonstrates how Cervantes synthesized the debates surrounding the two most authoritative discourses of his era – those of law and history – into a new aesthetic product, the modern novel. Byrne uncovers the empirical underpinnings of Don Quixote through a close philological study of Cervantes' sly questioning of and commentary on these fields. As she skilfully demonstrates, while sixteenth-century historiographers and jurists across southern Europe sought the philosophical nexus of their fields, Cervantes created one through the adventures of a protagonist whose history is all about justice. As such, Law and History in Cervantes' Don Quixote illustrates how Cervantes' art highlighted the inconsistencies of juridical-historical texts and practice, as well as anticipated the ultimate resolution of their paradoxes.

Book Cervantes y la cr tica

Download or read book Cervantes y la cr tica written by Amenodoro Urdaneta and published by Linkgua. This book was released on 2019-04-01 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Cervantes and the Early Modern Mind

Download or read book Cervantes and the Early Modern Mind written by Isabel Jaén and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-08-30 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the work of Cervantes in relation to the ideas about the mind that circulated in early modern Europe and were propelled by thinkers such as Juan Luis Vives, Juan Huarte de San Juan, Oliva Sabuco, Andrés Laguna, Andrés Velásquez, Marsilio Ficino, and Gómez Pereira. The editors bring together humanists and scientists: literary scholars and doctors whose interdisciplinary research integrates diverse types of sources (philosophical and medical treatises, natural histories, rhetoric manuals, pharmacopoeias, etc.) alongside Cervantes’s works to examine themes and areas including emotion, human development, animal vs. human consciousness, pathologies of the mind, and mind-altering substances. Their chapters trace the cognitive themes and points of inquiry that Cervantes shares with other early modern thinkers, showing how he both echoes and contributes to early modern views of the mind.
