Book La lecture philosophique

Download or read book La lecture philosophique written by Françoise Raffin and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book l ments pour la lecture des textes philosophiques written by Frédéric Cossutta and published by FeniXX. This book was released on 1989-01-01T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book First Philosophy

  • Author : Edmund Husserl
  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 2019-01-04
  • ISBN : 9402415971
  • Pages : 722 pages

Download or read book First Philosophy written by Edmund Husserl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-04 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents, for the first time in English, Husserl’s seminal 1923/24 lecture course First Philosophy (Erste Philosophie) together with a selection of material from the famous research manuscripts of the same time period. The lecture course is divided into two systematic, yet interrelated parts (“Critical History of Ideas” and “Theory of the Phenomenological Reduction”). It has long been recognized by scholars as among the most important of the many lecture courses he taught in his career. Indeed it was deemed as crucially important by Husserl himself, who composed it with a view toward eventual publication. It is unsurprising, then, that First Philosophy is the only lecture course that is consistently counted among his major works. In addition to furnishing valuable insights into Husserl’s understanding of the history of philosophy, First Philosophy is his most sustained treatment of the phenomenological reduction, the central concept of his philosophical methodology. The selection of supplemental texts expands on the topics treated in the lectures, but also add other themes from Husserl’s vast oeuvre. The manuscript material is especially worthwhile, because in it, Husserl offers candid self-criticisms of his publicly enunciated words, and also makes forays into areas of his philosophy that he was loath to publicize, lest his words be misunderstood. As Husserl’s position as a key contributor to contemporary thought has, with the passage of time, become increasingly clear, the demand for access to his writings in English has steadily grown. This translation strives to meet this demand by providing English-speaking readers access to this central Husserlian text. It will be of interest to scholars of Husserl’s work, non-specialists, and students of phenomenology.

Book L usage du tamis en philosophie

Download or read book L usage du tamis en philosophie written by Jean Tellez and published by Editions Germina. This book was released on 2010 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Philo of Alexandria and Greek Myth

Download or read book Philo of Alexandria and Greek Myth written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-10-07 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Philo of Alexandria and Greek Myth: Narratives, Allegories, and Arguments, a fresh and more complete image of Philo of Alexandria as a careful reader, interpreter, and critic of Greek literature is offered. Greek mythology plays a significant role in Philo of Alexandria’s exegetical oeuvre. Philo explicitly adopts or subtly evokes narratives, episodes and figures from Greek mythology as symbols whose didactic function we need to unravel, exactly as the hidden teaching of Moses’ narration has to be revealed by interpreters of Bible. By analyzing specific mythologems and narrative cycles, the contributions to this volume pave the way to a better understanding of Philo’s different attitudes towards literary and philosophical mythology.

Book Thinking and Be ing in Heidegger s Beitr ge zur Philosophie Vom Ereignis

Download or read book Thinking and Be ing in Heidegger s Beitr ge zur Philosophie Vom Ereignis written by George Kovacs and published by Zeta Books. This book was released on 2015-10-30 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heidegger's major be-ing-historical treatise, Beiträge zur Philosophie (Vom Ereignis), opens up the full depth and final range of his experience of thinking. It has a substantial bearing on the understanding, assessment, and appropriation of his lifework, not just on the interpretation of his later writings. The exploration of this unique work raises basic questions about the nature and task of thinking, not simply about Heidegger’s claims and insights. "Thinking and Be-ing in Heidegger's Beiträge zur Philosophie (Vom Ereignis)” by George Kovacs is a questioning confrontation with the main issues at stake in Heidegger’s thought. In contending with Heidegger's venture, George Kovacs clearly demonstrates that the re-thinking of the entire question of Being, of the ubiquitous and indispensable "is," is at the same time a re-thinking of the way of thinking, of thinking itself; it is a rediscovery of and an experience with language. This comprehensive, focused research contributes to the reawakening of the sense of wonder and curiosity about Being, beings, and human being's dwelling in the world, the primordial concern of Heidegger’s thought.

Book Jewish Worship in Philo of Alexandria

Download or read book Jewish Worship in Philo of Alexandria written by Jutta Leonhardt and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2001 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a knowledgeable contemporary of the later Second Temple, Philo of Alexandria's approach to worship and his view of the essence of Jewish worship are of particular interest to the study of that period. Jutta Leonhardt discusses his views on the Jewish festivals, especially the Sabbath, on prayer, psalms, hymns, praise and thanksgiving, and on Temple offerings, sacrifices and purification rites. These aspects are presented with their parallels in Jewish and pagan traditions and in Greek and Hellenistic philosophy. Jewish worship in Philo has never been studied as a coherent whole before. Only individual aspects of worship, such as prayer of petition, or thanksgiving, or Philo has been used in studies on Second Temple Judaism as a quarry for general examples of acts of worship.Philo accepted and participated in Jewish worship, and even knew about details of various Jewish traditions of his time. His writings, however, do not refer to them directly and cannot easily be used to reconstruct Jewish rituals of his time. His main aim is to discuss the rites as collected in the Mosaic Torah, since these are binding for all Jews. These laws are frequently presented using the terminology of pagan cults and interpreted with recourse to Greek philosophy. In this philosophical description of actual rites there are parallels to Plato's references to religion in the ideal state in the Nomoi. Philo presents Judaism as the ultimate Hellenistic cult, which combines the various aspects of the different pagan cults in a sublime and perfect form to represent mankind and the universe in the worship of the one God who created the world.

This book was released on 2009 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David, a member of the Platonic school in Alexandria in the sixth century, is credited with several commentaries on Aristotle s logic: those commentaries, and their Armenian translations, form the subject of this book. An introduction, which discusses David and his place in the Greek and the Armenian traditions, is followed by a series of studies of the relations between the Greek texts and their Armenian translations: the aims are, first, to assess the value of the translations for the constitution of the original Greek, and secondly, to consider the ways in which the Armenian translations adapted the texts to suit their new readership. More generally, the book is concerned with the ways in which Greek thought was exported abroad to Armenia and to Syria: it is required reading for anyone who is interested in the circulation of ideas between east and west. Contributors include: Sen Arevshatyan, Jonathan Barnes, Valentina Calzolari, Henri Hugonnard-Roche, Gohar Muradyan, Michael Papazian, Manea Shirinian, Clive Sweeting, Albert Stepanyan, Aram Topchyan.
