Book excerpt: La presente tesis doctoral lleva por título: “La influencia de las tecnologías avanzadas de manufactura y las habilidades en el incremento del performance de las empresas de manufactura españolas”. En los últimos tiempos, el mercado laboral alrededor del mundo ha mostrado cambios debido a la introducción de nuevas tecnologías. Tanto en EE.UU como en varios países europeos se ha presentado un fenómeno de polarización del empleo, es decir, un aumento en la demanda de trabajadores de alta y baja cualificación y, una disminución en la demanda de trabajadores con mediana cualificación. Este fenómeno de polarización laboral ha sido observado también en España y ha sido documentado por algunos autores (Anghel et al., 2014; Fernández et al., 2015). Con el fin de explicar este fenómeno han surgido dos marcos teóricos: el Skill Biased Technical Change (SBTC de aquí en adelante) y el Routine Biased Technical Change (RBTC de aquí en adelante). Aunque ambas teorías comparten dos componentes principales (las tecnologías de información y comunicación y, la alta cualificación de los trabajadores), el RBTC añade la necesidad de contar también con personal con baja cualificación para realizar aquellas tareas no-rutinarias que son necesarias en las empresas y que no necesariamente están directamente ligadas con el uso de las nuevas tecnologías. El RBTC está fundamentado en la hipótesis de la rutinización, la cual argumenta que: mientras las máquinas no pueden sustituir fácilmente las tareas interactivas no-rutinarias ubicadas en la parte más baja de la jerarquía ocupacional, si se hacen cargo fácilmente de las tareas rutinarias típicamente realizadas en empleos de mediana cualificación. La tecnología es, entonces, vista como complementaria tanto para empleos analíticos altamente remunerados, como para aquellos interactivos bajamente remunerados (Oesch & Rodríguez, 2011). La teoría del RBTC ofrece entonces, de acuerdo a Lindley y Machin (2014), un refinamiento a la explicación ofrecida por el SBTC. En la revisión de la literatura de este proyecto sobre la relación que existe entre las TIC (tecnologías de información y comunicación) y las habilidades en el performance de la empresa, encontramos varios estudios que han encontrado una relación positiva entre estas dos variables...

In spite of significant advances in technology it is still difficult to access information used or produced by different applications due to the hardware and software incompatibilities of manufacturing and information processing equipment. But it is this information and operational knowledge which makes up most of the business value of the enterprise and which enables it to compete in the marketplace. Therefore, sufficient and timely information access is a prerequisite for its efficient use in the operation of enterprises. It is the aim of the ESPRIT project AMICE to make this knowledge base available enterprise-wide. During several ESPRIT contracts the project has developed and validated CIMOSA: Open System Architecture for CIM. The CIMOSA concepts provide operation structuring based on cooperating processes. Enterprise operations are represented in terms of functionality and dynamic behaviour (control flow). Information needed and produced, as well as resources and organisational aspects relevant in the course of the operation are modelled in the process model. However, the different aspects may be viewed separately for additional structuring and detailing during the enterprise engineering process.
