Porque no hay dos iguales, presentan más poder discriminante que el ADN, como ocurre con los gemelos univitelinos, que tienen idéntico perfil genético pero distinta huella dactilar. En esta obra, se dará a conocer la evolución histórica de la Lofoscopia haciendo mención especial a los grandes pensadores y hombres ilustres que han contribuido a engrandecer esta Ciencia, sin dejar de hacer referencia a las innovadoras técnicas de revelado de huellas en la escena del crimen, los procedimientos de regeneración dactilar en los casos de cadáveres sin identificar, y el uso de los Sistemas Automáticos de Identificación Dactilar, herramientas imprescindibles para el esclarecimiento de todo tipo de delitos, concluyendo con los métodos científicos de identificación tanto de personas vivas como fallecidas. Vicente Lago Montejo es Graduado en Criminología por la Universidad Católica de Murcia. Especialista en Lofoscopia del Servicio de Criminalística de la Guardia Civil durante veintisiete años y miembro del Equipo de Identificación en Catástrofes (EIC) desde su creación en 1992. Completa su formación Universitaria dentro del ámbito de las Ciencias Forenses en las Universidades e Instituciones españolas más relevantes en estas disciplinas. Ha impartido actividades docentes tanto a nivel nacional como internacional: en Mozambique, dentro del Proyecto de ONU de Asistencia Técnica a la Policía de la República (PRM), en Lisboa durante el I Curso Internacional de Identificación de Víctimas de Desastres y en las Universidades de Córdoba, Elche y Murcia. Coautor del Libro Técnicas de investigación criminal, capítulo sobre la identificación de cadáveres, Editorial Dykinson, 2012, y autor de la obra La práctica de la investigación criminal: Inspección Técnico Ocular, Editorial Reus, 2017. But I felt that this might be tempting fate, given that we had not yet seen the detailed evidence from King's College. Nevertheless, we reached a compromise and decided to include a sentence that pointed to the biological significance of the molecule's key feature-the complementary pairing of the bases. "It has not escaped our notice," Francis wrote, "that the specific pairing that we have postulated immediately suggests a possible copying mechanism for the genetic material." By May, when we were writing the second Nature paper, I was more confident that the proposed structure was at the very least substantially correct, so that this second paper contains a discussion of molecular self-duplication using templates or molds. We pointed out that, as a consequence of base pairing, a DNA molecule has two chains that are complementary to each other.
