Trois points théoriques ont été abordés : l'esthétique, le fonctionnel avec l'occlusion et les contraintes les plus fréquentes. L'analyse esthétique du praticien doit tenir compte des caractéristiques morphologiques particulières du visage du patient, comme la position et les proportions des différents éléments de la face, et donc des différentes lignes principalement bi pupillaire pour le plan horizontal et gabelle pour le plan sagittal médian. Cette analyse doit aussi être réalisée en mouvement lorsque le patient parle, sourit et/ou rit. Le diagnostic esthétique du praticien doit être approprié et convaincant pour le patient, mais aussi considérer l'harmonie naturelle du visage ni figée, ni artificielle. Au-delà de l'esthétique, le praticien doit privilégier la fonction occlusale. Après évaluation diagnostique occluso-architecturale, le plan de traitement doit suivre les huit critères décrits pour une réhabilitation prothétique adaptée. Les contraintes rencontrées comme le bruxisme, l'érosion acide ou le reflux gastro œsophagien doivent être détectés et pris en charge par les spécialistes correspondants. Des conseils d'hygiène bucco-dentaire et alimentaire viennent compléter le traitement. Le cas clinique présenté permet d'apprécier le passage de la théorie à la pratique. Les décisions du traitement ont été prises en étroite concertation avec la patiente. La réalisation de mock up résine a permis à la patiente de s'approprier le projet prothétique. L'écoute et l'information de la patiente ont été primordiales dans ce projet, comme cela doit être le cas pour toutes les réhabilitations esthétiques. "

Individuals unable to control their use are jeopardizing school, employment and relationships. The concept of “Internet Addiction” is used to explain uncontrollable, damaging use of technology. It is characterized as an impulse control disorder, comparable to pathological gambling, because of overlapping diagnostic criteria and symptomatology. Based on these studies, the IAT was constructed to capture the problematic behavior associated with compulsive use of technology, including online porn, internet gambling and compulsive use of online games and social media. The Internet Addiction Test emerged as the first validated measure of Internet and technology addiction. The assessments can be administered in a variety of mental health settings, including private practice clinics, schools, hospitals and residential programs. They can be used when there is suspicion of Internet addiction, as part of a broad intake assessment, or for use in a wellness curriculum to help participants evaluate their own Internet behavior. The IAT can also be a valuable pre-employment screening device, to detect internet addiction among job candidates, to improve productivity and reduce corporate liability. Based on 20 self-report items, the IAT assesses for the presence of addiction to the Internet, electronic entertainment, social media, and general use of electronic devices, and also measures the severity of addiction, in terms of mild, moderate or severe. Unfortunately, intensified management often results in new problems, among which disease is important There are many similarities between the current form of management used for some waterfowl and that used in domestic animals. In both, the objective is to maintain a healthy, productive population. Dealing with health problems in waterfowl will benefit from combining the skills of veterinary medicine and wildlife ecology. Revisiting this book after 15 years allowed me to consider changes at the interface between the two disciplines. Veterinary medicine traditionally has been concerned with the individual and with treating sick animals, while the ecologist is concerned with populations and the manager has limited interest in treating sick birds. During this period there has been a marked increase in awareness among veterinarians that they have a responsibility in wildlife and conservation biology. Curricula of many veterinary colleges now include material on non-domestic animals and attempt to put disease in an ecological context. Also during this time, waterfowl managers have become more aware of disease as a factor in population biology and there are early attempts to put numbers to "disease" in models of continental waterfowl populations.

Book excerpt: This book describes the diagnoses; staging and management of patients with colorectal liver metastases initially considered unresectable and portrays the different strategies to increase resectability along with their tactics and tricks. Colorectal carcinoma is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world and according to recent cancer statistics around 1.23 million patients are diagnosed each year. Of these patients, approximately 50% will develop liver metastases during the course of their disease and around 15-25% are found to have stage IV disease at diagnosis. Liver resection has been recognized as the treatment of choice for these patients, offering overall 5-year survival rates of up to 50-60% and the only hope for cure. However, at diagnosis only 10-20% of these patients are possibly amenable to surgical resection with curative intent. The possibility to achieve an R0 resection is many times limited by the amount and quality of the future liver remnant (FLR), being posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) the most feared and severe complication after major liver resections. With the years, diverse strategies have been developed with the intention to increase resectability by increasing the future liver remnant and/or reducing tumor size, e.g. ALPPS. Along with these techniques, associated surgeries are developed including multivisceral resections, which broadens even more the resectability for patients.
