La obra aborda desde una perspectiva psicosocial y psicoanalítica, los perfiles problemáticos surgidos de las experiencias de divorcio o separación, teniendo en cuenta las lógicas de reclamación y de demanda particulares de las parejas, así como los modos y las fuentes socio jurídicas que orientan la atención profesional y la protección institucional de los derechos del niño. Los rasgos problemáticos identificados permiten analizar las posiciones subjetivas de cada uno de los miembros de la expareja con respecto al conflicto, así como interpretar las singularidades del padre y de la madre para asumirlas en el contexto de la historia vivida como pareja y con el hijo. Estos rasgos permiten identificar los riesgos de vulneración de los niños durante este proceso. La perspectiva es la de explicar emociones y reacciones subjetivas que parecen incomprensibles para el observador externo e incluso para el propio sujeto que las experimenta. Además, los rasgos problemáticos identificados permiten evidenciar los límites de las intermediaciones conciliatorias de la Institución.
