Download or read book La Crise sans fin Essai sur l exp rience moderne du temps written by Myriam Revault d'Allonnes and published by Média Diffusion. This book was released on 2012-09-06T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Composed of papers originally presented during the International Screendance Conference at the Festival International de Vidéo Danse de Bourgogne, Art in Motion considers the choreography of moving images from a variety of angles, including somatic camera work, aesthetic and gestural analysis, and historical research that delves into cinema’s earliest depictions of dance, as well as perspectives from contemporary screendance artists. The geographic diversity of the contributors, many of whom are translated in English for the first time in this volume, reflects the growing number of screendance scholars and artists around the world, providing valuable insights from France, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Hungary, and the United States. Art in Motion adopts a broad definition of screendance that explores movement on-screen and with the camera in many forms, while citing parallels between other artistic movements and practices that raise important questions about the role of screendance in moving image and choreographic cultures today.

Book New Spiritualities and the Cultures of Well being

Download or read book New Spiritualities and the Cultures of Well being written by Géraldine Mossière and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-07-06 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by the neoliberal paradigm that transposes religious behaviors into a religious marketplace framed by consumerist and capitalist models, this volume draws on ethnographic fieldwork to discuss the assemblage between the well-being trope and the rise of new spiritualities, as well as their deep permeation within mainstream culture. Building on previous literature that addresses the relationship between spirituality, healing and well-being, this text discusses the religious roots of mind-body practices. The contributions offer a critical perspective on the scope, limits and impacts of the current celebration of spiritualities. Part I provides theoretical insights for thinking about ways in which the prevalent ethics of well-being reframes subjectivities within the margins of neoliberal order. Part II demonstrates how spiritual economies are promoted, shaped and regulated by institutional forces such as States, law and the labor market. In part III, contributors describe in detail how spiritual economies unfold in specific cultural and social settings. The text appeals to students and researchers working on the spirituality and sociology of religion.

Book Assassination of experience by painting Monory

Download or read book Assassination of experience by painting Monory written by Jean-François Lyotard and published by Presses Universitaires de Louvain - UCL. This book was released on 2013 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lyotard met Jacques Monory in 1972, and the text on him published at that time was the first that Lyotard dedicated to contemporary art since Discourse, Figure. Lyotard's interest in the plastic arts thus fits fully within the setting of his political preoccupations. The artist-protagonist stages the recurring motifs that fascinate Lyotard: the scene of the crime, the revolver, the woman, the victim, glaciers, deserts, stars. The atmosphere of the essays on Monory is "Californian." Monory's imaginary repertoire goes well beyond the masters of modernity and is in line rather with a "modern contemporary surrealism." Both Lyotard and Monory live the "dilemma of Americanization," the America represented by cinema, fashion, novels, music. It is in this atmosphere that Lyotard and Monory will finally evoke their supreme experience of difference: desire and fear, exultation and a profound malaise. The plastic universe of Monory and the aesthetic meditations of Lyotard are in perfect symbiosis. Sarah Wilson's epilogue thoroughly outlines both the history of a friendship and, at the same time, the intellectual and artistic climate of the 1970s.
